I just returned from a lovely respite at the ADK Trail Inn in the Adirondacks. My room was clean and comfortable with both a refrigerator and microwave. I felt cozy with the electric fireplace in my room, as well. There is a fabulous game room and I highly recommend the couch in the dining room. I also bought Amy's wonderful book to help me bring the gift of Blessing into my daily life. It was quiet and peaceful. The wifi was excellent, but don't expect to have phone service. I was able to make and receive phone calls after turning on wifi calling in my phone settings.
I met a group of beautiful, strong and caring women. Listening to their stories and sharing mine was validating and helped me feel less alone in my struggles as a parent of a child with disabilities. I value the resources, suggestions and insight that came along so naturally with the shared meals, friendship and laughter.
This past summer, I had the honor of staying in Hammond's Hideaway at the Terrace Guest House for the first time. This is a unique 3rd floor space that is homey and rustic. I loved that the bathroom sink was remodeled from an antique treadle sewing machine because I'm a seamstress and I'd never seen that before. The rocking chair was as beautiful as it was comfortable. These personal touches are common throughout the Terrace Guest House, making it an experience of true respite by combining beauty and comfort.
I am so grateful to A Mother's Rest and their porch partners who make these respites possible. They are essential for my emotional health and well being. Thank you for supporting A Mother's Rest so that they can continue to support us. We struggle to cope every single day and even knowing that we have a respite to look forward to helps immensly. Of course, experiencing the respite itself is invaluable! Thank you to all donors who support this incredible foundation.

Since my first experience with A Mother's Rest two years ago, I have continued to get invaluable respite that has helped me cope with caregiving stressors. The freedom to sleep until I can't sleep anymore and to rejuvenate myself with local activities is wonderful.
I made lifelong friends from these retreats who understand my challenges in a way others cannot. I am grateful to share my encouragement and suggestions to help others who are in earlier stages of the disabilities that I have experience with. I gain support and practical advice from others who have experience in the stages that I am struggling with now.
I was a grateful guest at the Scarborough Inn on three different occasions. It's incredible how Sne and his team made us feel welcome and a part of his extended family. I am looking forward to returning and filling my soul with the beauty of the art and handcrafted treasures at Stainton's.
My two trips to the Terrace Guest House were amazing retreats filled with new connections and shared emotions. Andrea decorated the Inn thoughtfully and beautifully. Amy added seasonal updates and was available to help with anything we needed during our stay. I am eagerly awaiting my next visit this summer.
My most recent respite retreat was at the B.F. Hiestand House, a new inn partner with lovely Victorian decor. I had a relaxing stay and enjoyed the many luxury amenities. Pam and Dallas were friendly and helpful. I hope to go back soon.

A Mother's Rest gave me an opportunity that I couldn't have had without their help. They provided respite from the constant stress of caregiving that is often overwhelming. Thank you so much to the volunteers who put hours of work into this organization!
I enjoyed getting to know the other guests at the retreat that I attended, who are in similar situations as my own. They provided a listening ear, empathy and friendship.
The retreat offered the freedom to hide out and hibernate or to hang around and socialize. Switching off between the two was perfect for me. The lack of programming was just what I needed.
The innkeepers were kind and went out of their way to help. My room was clean and comfortable. The common rooms were beautiful and cozy.
I am grateful to everyone who keeps them going with financial support!
