I found Bunny Buddies 7 years ago when I was searching for a bunny friend for my rabbit Nora. She found a husbun, but I also found so much more—a community of fellow rabbit lovers, some of whom soon turned into lifelong friends. I think that’s because anyone who’s willing to dedicate their time and talents to rabbit rescue must have a huge heart.

I also fostered for Bunny Buddies for several years, and it was the most rewarding experience! I know most people think, “I could never foster; I’d just want to keep them all! It’s too hard to let them go.” And, yes of course you get attached. But I watched every single rabbit I fostered go to the absolute perfect home where they thrive and flourish, and there’s nothing quite as joyful and satisfying as witnessing the impact you’ve made not only to the bunny’s life but to its new family as well. And it’s all thanks to the BB volunteers who help make a perfect match between rabbits and people. That’s where Bunny Buddies makes such a huge difference!

Today, I now have a bonded trio. Mitch (black Havana) is a BB alum circa 2015, and I just adopted mom & daughter pair Phoebe (brown lop) and Rue (Himalayan/lop) from BB in December, shortly after Mitch’s last bunny wife passed. The three of them miraculously bonded in less than two weeks! I have always wanted a trio, and I have to say it’s a blast. They keep me busy and I just love them so much. Thanks yet again to BB for making another perfect match!

Truly, I can’t quantify the joy that Bunny Buddies as an organization has brought me. The community support and opportunities to make friends while sharing silly rabbit stories can’t be found anywhere else in Houston!
