Bunny Buddies is a wonderful resource for the rabbit-loving population in the Houston area! Not only do they provide comprehensive educational advice on the husbandry and care of rabbits, this incredible network of volunteers works tirelessly to foster and adopt rabbits to the right homes. They collaborate with rabbit-savvy veterinarians to have their fosters spayed or neutered before they are adopted out, to help curb undesirable behaviors (e.g. urine marking, aggression) and unwanted pregnancies. I truly enjoy working with the members of this knowledgeable and compassionate organization in providing veterinary services for bunnies under their care!
I got my sweet prince (Ziggy) and gray knight (Milo) from Bunny Buddies back in 2008. Since then I have been fostering bunnies and adopted a beautiful Agouti name Timmy that survived a hording situation. Bunny Buddies is comprised of all volunteers that seek to educate the public on rabbits. Here is a picture of Ziggy (B/W Dutch), Cleo (Netherland Dwarf), and Timmy.
I have worked with this organization as a veterinarian to aid with diseased rabbits that have been taken in for adoption and to perform routine neuters and spays. They are an amazing group of dedicated passionate individuals with high ethical standards. I am privileged to be able to contribute to their cause.
Bunny Buddies weaves a tight web to keep Houston bunny owners informed and supporting one another. I couldn't imagine taking care of a rabbit without them.
Love Bunny Buddies. They supported my foster rabbit for two years through one tooth abscess after another. Sure , I took care of him but they paid the vet bills and for the meds. One Bunny Buddies member even sponsored him for a very expensive but promising for bunnies treatment. Mr Bingley isn't cured yet but he's had a good life through lots of awful stuff. That's a real rescue.
Bunny Buddies helped me learn to care for my rabbit when I rescued it after some bad neighbors threw out their baby bunny right after Easter. It was so terrified, and so starved it felt like a bird. Precious grew into a big strapping white rabbit thanks to the advice of Bunny Buddies. Since then, 1995, my husband and I have adopted 12 more bunnies as rescue rabbits, and Bunny Buddies has helped with their care and taught us so much. This is important work since rabbits are the third most abandoned pets given to shelters. Right after abandoned dogs and cats.
Bunny Buddies is the only rabbit rescue organization in the greater Houston area. We work with and help just about every local shelter with the placement of and medical care for the rabbits they take in. We educate the public about rabbit care and welfare, facilitate spay/neuter days for shelter and foster rabbits multiple times each year, and participate in community outreach and adoption events.
Bunny Buddies is fantastic and both my bunnies owe their lives to their caring volunteers. They're the best!
I love bunny buddies!! Got my first rabbit from them and wanting another rabbit I got a recommendation for another from a shelter. They are great for advice on medical issues! Very important when have a sick rabbit on a weekend.
They are the best! I learned so much from them!!!!!
I was fortunate to become a Bunny Buddies member 5 years ago when I adopted my furry baby Pappas. Bunny Buddies has taught me to be an excellent pet parent and is always there to answer any questions and help me when I have concerns. Bunny Buddies is a group of people who go above and beyond to rescue and save rabbits. I hope one day they raise enough money to build a shelter for these amazing and loving furry babies.
A neighbor of mine has three bunnies. I have seen the relief that she has when able to rely on advice from Bunny buddies. One of her bunnies was sick and bunny buddies advised her on care to ensure her bunny's health.
I joined BB 10 years ago and have remained a member even though I moved out of state. The group works tirelessly to help as many bunnies as they can. I've never seen an organization work so seamlessly with other groups. Not to mention, without BB - our loving buns JB, Butters and Tipsy would have never been a part of our family.
We are grateful to Bunny Buddies, as we adopted our little guy from them after the terrible loss of a baby bunny that was sold to us when it was too young from a store. Our little boy has given us so much joy and we appreciate all that Bunny Buddies, it's members, and volunteers do.
One day I came home to this face. Would this face lie to you. No. No it would not. This face told me that all non profits are not the same. This particular one is 5 star. Don't believe me. Just ask that face.
I found a very young rabbit in my back yard in the early 2000's. Turned to Bunny Buddies for help on caring for a bunny. They could not have been more supportive. I began to rely on them (and their site) for advice....from food to care. The more I interacted with Bunny Buddies the more I was interested in joining the organization, which I subsequently did.
Bunny Buddies is awesome with finding homes for bunnies, with providing health guidance and advise on how to live with the rabbits. This included the benefits of having more than one in my home. I have had up to 6 in my house, and now no less than 3. I 100% support this organization and am impressed with the membership.
I discovered BunnyBuddies in 2005, after someone dumped a rabbit on my street corner and I needed help learning to care for it. I later became a volunteer and a rescuer myself; during my tenure, we saved more than 400 rabbits, and they continue to work with individuals and shelters to save as many rabbits' lives as possible.
Bunny Buddies is the BEST! We rescued a bunny and they rescued us! BB provided veterinary specialist referrals, participation in the hay co-op, behavior and dietary council and support. The BB community is welcoming and caring! The list goes on and on. We couldn't foster and rescue without them!
I first found Bunny Buddies when I bought two rabbits from a pet store (I didn't know there were rabbits in shelters!). When I took them to be neutered, my veterinarian told me I MUST contact Bunny Buddies to participate in their hay coop program for the food my bunnies needed - Houston was a food desert for bunnies 15 years ago! So I met some marvelous friends, bought good food for my buns, adopted a third bunny, was introduced to the shelter where I ultimately became a volunteer and employee, and now do the ordering for the hay coop.
Bunny Buddies is all heart - we have participated in several seizures over the years, usually caring for the bunnies ourselves, sometimes giving a great deal of hands-on help to the shelter where they are housed. We foster and have a swap program with the shelters - if a rabbit becomes cage-crazy or seems aggressive a foster will take that rabbit home and leave a calmer one at the shelter. We have Bunny's Day Out twice a year, a fund-raiser and means of educating people on rabbit care, and a fun day out for bunnies and their humans. We have frequent adoption events, and do our very best to educate the public about responsible rabbit ownership and also assist people who want a second bunny to find Mr. or Ms. Right for their rabbit (bunnies are rather picky about choosing their own friends). We also participate in regular spay/neuter days for rabbits, where BB members assist in the surgeries/recovery. And now, because our foster homes are full to bursting, we are making plans to create a rabbit shelter in Houston.
Bunnies Buddies is our Houston, TX area house rabbit rescue. They are dedicated to the health and welfare of all rabbits, help in education and adoption assistance of house rabbits, and have helped me on three occasions to save abandoned house rabbits. I am very thankful for their presence in the Houston area. They have helped me become a successful pet parent and house rabbit rescuer.
