Review for Free Bytes Np, Inc., Atlanta, GA, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I started out as the volunteer coordinator for this organization. It did a 'great' job of not only making good use of old computer equipment but also of teaching others how to use computers and to not be afraid of the process of repairing them. There are literally thousands of people that learned how to repair computers for free at this organization. And for those that never asked for a computer in exchange for their volunteer work, I solute you. You are among the few that had a good reason for being there.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The way people hungered for the opportunity to learn more about computers and the way that the computers were used once they were donated to other nonprofit organizations (especially the after school programs).

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

.. I did run the organization :-)

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The opportunity to teach others.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Usually very helpful and hungry for the opportunity to help.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Have put a computer in every needing NPO in the South East of the U.S.

Ways to make it better...

If I had had unlimited resources. ... But isn't that what many of us wanted. But then on the other hand, if I had had everything I wanted, would I have valued the experience as much?

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

... were ... the media engine that convinced others that the latest greatest was what they needed (even if they didn't really need the latest greatest).

One thing I'd also say is that...

They needed more help from those that were guided by God's will.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2001

Role:  Professional with expertise in this field & I was the volunteer coordinator here for a couple of years.
