Review for Jellystone Barks Rescue Rangers NFP, Yorkville, IL, USA

Rating: 1 stars

I tried adopting a puppy from them, the one I was hoping for had been adopted out earlier that day, and they offered me their brother, who my family hadn’t seen, but we were ready for a new addition to the family so we went ahead to adopt him without seeing him (stupid, I know). We get an email saying that if we pay the 200$ and the dog will be filed and could be picked up at the specified date. I inquired about the price to be sure that we had everything covered. Kim comes back a half hour later saying that the puppy was 795$. I’ve had worked with Rescue shelters before, and they have all been upfront with the cost, and none of them where priced so high, so I was shocked by this.
I emailed her back saying that we were under the impression that the dog was 200$ because of the PayPal email. She said, “I am not quite sure how anyone could have missed the adoption donation as it is clearly posted on all of our dogs.” And sent me the information on a different dog, if fact it was the dog my family originally wanted.
I had initially asked if there was something my family could do to work with the rescue or Kim so we could bring them home, and that was the reply I got.
I explained that the dog we had paid for was not the same as the same one as the information she sent me, in fact, the dog we paid for hadn’t even been listed yet. I asked if there was something we could do to bring the puppy home. I had told them in two separate emails that we wanted the puppy and that we preferred to work out some kind solution so we could bring him home with us. I did also say that we would like to be refunded if we couldn’t figure something out. After I called Kim out for the price, the misinformation, and the general rudeness for an honest mistake, she opted to give us a refund, which considering what others have gone through is lucky. I wish they could have given us other options, but instead of wanting to work with us to give a dog a good home, they must have wanted the 795$ more.
I see that others have had great experiences, and I’m glad for them, but if you’ve read all the way through this, just know that there are some shady people working there, trust your gut and if something seems off, don’t commit. Also, they also make sure to discredit any reviews that don’t write good things about them, so that says a lot about them.

All of our adoption donations are posted. If you want to reserve/pre adopt one of our available dogs that is your option. If a dog has already been reserved/pre adopted that dog is not available as it is pre adopted. Had you read through everything provided you would not have been confused as everything is spelled out in detail. We are sorry for your confusion.
