I had heard of Shakespeare & Co.'s youth programs, and had been to a show every now and then, when my husband was on sabbatical one year in Washington, DC. Trying to find myself useful temporary employment while we were there, I volunteered at the National Endowment for the Arts, labeling documentation for the grant panels, and handing out the documentation when the panels were in session. At the panel that the Shakespeare & Co. youth programs came up, I noticed that there wasn't a single other applicant on the table who had the same kind of involvement from the participants as the Shakespeare & Co. programs did. Now that my kids was participated in the programs, I feel so fortunate that we live close to Lenox so that they have this very special opportunity to do Shakespeare at Shakespeare & Co.!
