I have been a volunteer and serve on the Board for over 15 years. I am surprised by the number of people in Downingtown, PA that do not have the means to purchase the food they need for themselves and their families. I am amazed at how many people step up to help financially and/or give their time. The Lord's Pantry make people feel good about themselves. They get a shopping cart and select food / household goods that will be used. Other food shelters give out bags of pre-selected food. There are many people that need food and come to the Lord's Pantry. Then, they turn their lives around and give back by becoming volunteers. That is great to see.
