Review for Back2Back Ministries, Mason, OH, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I've been a youth pastor for over 17 years now and led over 20 mission trips. I took a group of youth to India with Back 2 Back summer 2010 and fell in love with this ministry. They are professional, organized, safe and most of all Spirit driven. I trust them 100% and our youth group sponsors two staff now as our ongoing support of Back2Back. We hope to work with them again in the near future! If you are looking for a place for your young people to experience a new culture and make a difference while having their owns lives transformed- this is it! The children are amazing.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I've watched my team members come back from India and engage in missions here at home. The youth preached and the other adults mobilized more mission trips!

Very Well

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

Not sure anything should be changed... it would have been great to have had a bit more siteseeing and/or shopping time to bring that part back with us.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

Yes! I fell in love with India and learned a new appreciation for a culture that learns in memory blocks and deep family traditions. I also discovered a brand new cuisine to eat!

I felt useful and important to the projects and humble and appreciative of all I received.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Review for Teens Opposing Poverty Inc, Berryville, VA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

TOPs is an outstanding organization with a heart and passion for the homeless and larger justice issues of poverty. They empower young people to be the vehicle to offer hope alongside physical aid. I've been a youth pastor for 17 years and this is one of the finest organizations I've worked with. My youth and I have gone into the large city as well as our own local communities. We have distributed food, coats, water, toiletries, new underwear, shoes, detergent, toilet paper, the list goes on and on. So many little things one takes for granted that people in transition appreciate. Mostly they take time to learn names, hear stories and bring a new sense of humanity back to some who have given up on themselves. Praying in the parks and temporary housing with people who could be us on another day is sacred. We also have works with TOP to do a local building improvement project and motel ministry outreach. If you have the heart for the homeless contact this organization. They know how to make a difference.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing the teens I work with be deeply affected through the new relationships. One teen delivered a box of diapers to a young homeless mother who went into shock that she was getting the whole box. My teen realized the presence of God's grace and love in helping this mother in such a small but powerful way. I could share many more examples as this...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Get even more people involved. They are always looking and open for new involvement.
