Hurricane Ida hit Downingtown very hard and I had 6 feet of water in my basement. I was lucky that none of it reached the first floor but many people in town were not so lucky. I lost both my boiler and hot water heater, which insurance will hopefully cover. I had just replaced my washer and dryer and both were completely ruined after being submerged. I found a flood relief application at my front door and filled it out. Within a few days, someone from the pantry called me and after asking me some questions, they asked if I could use a new washer and dryer. I was so excited and within a day, I got a confirmation that they had been ordered.

I used to volunteer at the Lords Pantry when I was a college student and I was always so impressed by everything that they do for people in the community. I am so thankful that they were able to help me after the flood. Several of my neighbors have received assistance as well to replace an electrical panel, install a sump pump, and replace a furnace. They have always done so much to help the community and after the flood, they have done so much more.
