I am so impressed that this place even exists... and functions! I always feel good when I get my emails, letting me know that at least a few of my fellow creatures survive their years as human food producers, and are able to live on in retirement. I live in Oregon. I have friends and neighbors who raise chickens and treat them well. However, I was horrified to learn that my one friend, regularly, as her chickens reach 2 years of age, has them "humanely slaughtered" and gets new chicks. She doesn't need all those eggs. She is relatively well off, and only gives most of the eggs away. Why then? what excuse? That's just how its done. I am so greatful that Animal place doesn't think that's how it needs to be done. Please give them nonprofit status.
