I recently went on my second trip to Sarajevo for the Student Leadership Seminar. I am just as amazed as my first trip and even more solid in my beliefs as to why this foundation has my heart. Sure Jericho raises funds to help put these students through college, but they go above that. Jericho takes the time to hold these seminars along with countless hours of one on one with each student to teach them life skills in the hope that each student becomes a well-rounded functioning person in their society.
These skills go from how to recognize their triggers, how to handle them, how to control their emotions without being shut off, just to name a few. This year the big one was to really take a look at unity within the country. How can they do their part to really look at their narrative and seek out if it's correct or possibly a belief or thought passed down? It was fascinating to see many students' eyes and hearts opening to the idea of a more united Bosnia.
