Review for Primate Rescue Center, Nicholasville, KY, USA
I have volunteered on site with The Primate Rescue Center for 2 years. I have had the opportunity to observe the staff at work during all kinds of conditions and pressures - it's raining, it's snowing, it's 100 degrees, it's so cold your fingers don't work, supply deliveries are late, supply deliveries don't come at all, the fans break down, the AC won't work, the tractor breaks down, the van won't start, staff members are ill, volunteers don't keep their schedules - and through it all the PRC core staff keep going. Not only do they keep going, they continue to diligently address the individual needs and preferences of the primates. Meals are lovingly prepared and individualized. Enrichment is crafted and dispensed with sensitivity to each primate's skills. Parties are planned. Birthdays are observed. Losses are deeply felt. And, though the staff is frantically busy from the moment they set foot on the sanctuary grounds until the moment they leave at the end of the day, they take time to recycle, compost and repurpose everything they use on site. A true commitment to a future for all of us.
