As a relatively new member in the chapter of CRS in the Diocese of Buffalo,NY., I have learned so much from the monthly in- service education we receive via Zoom. Since education about world needs is vital to commitment, CRS does a remarkable job .I have learned about the many needs across our globe, how CRS is working for sustainable development so that people can ultimately provide for themselves. I have learned about their success and challenges. I was so impressed by their collaboration with other agencies and especially the communities with whom they work. I have learned how funds are used, and ideas
on how to raise those funds, and strategies for advocacy work with our legislators. The latter has strengthened my confidence in writing to my representatives and in writing letters to the newspapers.
Our chapter’s success for the RiceBowl collection which included educating families about different cultures and the support we gained from our New York Senator for agreeing to co-sponsor a bill affecting foreign aid to mothers and children - all of this is proof to me that I have joined a powerful vehicle that can help to change our world.
