I am an independent filmmaker in Phoenix, Arizona. I would like to recognize Recovery Empowerment Network for their work in bringing a voice to Mental Health through film. I have had the pleasure to assist this company with the creation of Recovery Reelz. This program teaches people living with a mental health challenge how to write, direct, and edit their own personal short documentaries on recovery. These films focus on members of the community, personal contribution to the planet, and overcoming past traumas. Film is an incredible artform that can bring stories often overlooked into the mainstream and shed light on people who have lived and overcome their struggles.
