Back in 2010, our small faith community needed a meaningful way to gather during Lent. Since then, every year, we used the CRS Rice Bowl as our format. Every Friday of Lent, we shared in the stories and the foods of people from around the world that CRS makes available to us. We enjoy the beautiful smiling faces of people with far less than any of us have ever experienced. One time, we Skyped with a family in Guatemala, while simultaneously enjoying the stories and food of their country. Modern technology makes the experience of connecting live with people in other countries even more exciting. This deepens our community's lived experience of social justice, while virtually experiencing in real time the world abroad. We collect funds for the work of CRS. But the true wealth is in the gift we receive from the experience of the beautiful faces.
