My son's interpreter not only bravely fulfilled his commitment to work as an interpreter he also put himself in harm's way multiple times protecting my son and the other soldiers he served with. He arrived in the US under SIV and has become a US citizen. His wife was instructed by the US embassy to come to Kabul and make her way to the airport. She is still an Afghan citizen but has the correct paperwork. She has been trapped in the chaos for 5 days now and is becoming very discouraged. I asked my son, "are _ and his wife worth all of this?" his reply to me was "absolutely" followed by stories and tears. Thank you for keeping up the fight - it is worth it, for the sake of those we made promises to, for the sake of those who protected our sons and daughters, for the sake of the veterans who are now pulled into the middle of this on a minute by minute basis. The cause is worthy!
