I have been volunteering at WNCR since the spring of 2017. Initially I helped out by mucking, fixing fences, repairing and building ranch buildings, cutting weeds, hauling hay, and working with horses. Fortunately, numerous foals and fully grown horses I've worked with over the years have since been adopted out. I'm glad I could be a small part of their success story. Also, I've helped out by being the announcer/emcee at multiple ranch horse shows and events. Three years ago I adopted Charlotte, a 9 year old Appaloosa mare, from WNCR. It took weeks for her to trust me when I first started working with her, but she has since developed into a great trail horse. I helped demo/teardown the old ranch office trailer and move furniture into the new office building. More recently the ranch has needed me to focus on IT work and misc. grounds maintenance. The dedication of volunteers is very evident through the quality care the horses receive. I am very proud to be a part of the organization and I am very impressed by the endless hard work accomplished by the small group of paid staff and horse trainers. So many horses owe their meaningful lives and futures to the 100 or so volunteers who each do their part to make WNCR successful.
