Review for FRIENDS OF THE WICKENBURG PUBLIC LIBRARY INC, Wickenburg, AZ, USA
The Friends have entered a contract with the Town of Wickenburg to provide $117,500/year to pay half the cost of keeping the public library open through FY 2014-2015. The library is only 3 percent of the town budget, but has taken a terrible hit in the economic downturn. The staff has been reduced to 3 clerks who keep the library open 42.5 hours/week; volunteers provide a lot of assistance. The town has budgeted for and hopes to attract a professional librarian to improve contact with the schools and improve electronic access to materials. This is a small rural town, and any outside help will be appreciated.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The Town will close the public library if the Friends cannot raise their half of the budget. Several thousand patrons will be disappointed, and no one would want to move to a rural town that has no library.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Funding an endowment would be a goal.
