Review for Pooch Savers Rescue, DALLAS, TX, USA
I met 8 yr old, 5.5 lb. Sparky at a Pooch Savers Rescue event at PetSmart, Plano, Tex. April 30/â21 and was blessed to adopt him May 7/â21. Still grieving from loss of my Mini Schnauzer Dec. 30/â20 plus family & friends in 2020, there was an empty spot in my heart to love another dog.
From the moment I picked Sparky up, I knew PSR cared about this adoption and that Scott & Lisa Brooks as well as Lisa Devany had my back.
Sparky had a seizure 5/11/â21 - scared me, didnât know what to do. Called Scott, he answered & immediately FaceTimed with me to observe Sparky.
Long story short, I only had Sparky 50 days. Turned out Sparkyâs seizures were more than epilepsy - most likely meningitis affecting several areas of his brain.
After seeming to be doing well, Sparky had a massive cluster seizure June 26/â21 that he couldnât be brought out of when taken the 2nd time to emergency hospital. He wasnât going to get better - best thing for Sparky was the gift of being released from pain and disfunction, no quality of life to look forward to.
Scott and Lisa kept in contact any time I reached out ( I almost velcored myself to them), providing me with mounds of encouragement & support, love through those 50 days and several days after Sparky crossed the Bridge.
I have so much respect for Scott, Lisa, PSR as I experienced seeing their depth of commitment, love, support to Fosters, Adopters, every dog in their care and their intense desire to share the need for the huge number of deserving dogs that need the gift of rescue.
As painful as it was to lose my sweet, adorable Sparky, itâs a good feeling knowing I had the privilege of loving him, giving him the quality of life he deserved in his finale days even if it took âa villageâ! I couldnât have asked for or imagined as much as I was given from Pooch Savers Rescue! It was a great reminder that we donât know how much time we have and to make not just the days but the moments count.
Thank you Scott, Lisa & Lisa, all of PSR!
I love the way you welcome each of your rescues to PSR and mission statement -
Saving one dog will not change the world, but for that one dog the world will be changed â and so was mine.
