Full disclosure: I LOVE THIS ORGANIZATION! I started out as a visitor, then became a donor and volunteer, served on several committees, then joined the Board, and also adopted some wonderful pets along the way. It's been a great journey because at the very heart and soul of this organization are the people who give so much of themselves to help the cats and dogs. It truly is a community of friendship, kindness, and caring. And who doesn't want to help a homeless pet find a Forever Family? For anyone wanting to make a difference in this world, I highly recommend the Central Texas SPCA!

I got involved with this organization several years ago and continue to volunteer my time, talents, skills, and provide financial support because I believe in its mission. This isn't "just another animal shelter." What sets the Central Texas SPCA apart from the norm is the level of care they provide the animals. Care is tailored around each animal's specific needs. The commitment the staff and volunteers make to ensure the best quality of life for each cat and dog while at the shelter is incredible. It makes me proud to be part of something that takes such a positive approach. It isn't a sad shelter at all and I fully recommend everyone coming out to see for themselves exactly what makes this place so special. While the facility itself is quite aged/dated/old, the Central Texas SPCA's Capital Campaign is underway with hopes to break ground on a new facility in 2023. This is the PERFECT TIME to get involved if you aren't already. So many wonderfully magnificent things are happening that YOU can be a part of, too!

I came across the CTSPCA when I was looking for a place to volunteer with my daughter. Seeing the quality of care and commitment given to the animals, and how resourceful the CTSPCA is at conserving costs, I grew to truly appreciate their approach. They do not cut corners when it comes to animal care - quite the opposite - they go above and beyond for each and every animal. This may mean raising money for special needs medical cases or securing services with a behaviorist/trainer if necessary, on top of their continuing efforts to increase donor awareness in order to maintain basic operations as they hold true to their mission. Where some organizations may hire a professional fundraiser, the CTSPCA utilizes the skills and talents of its volunteers to plan and work events. Volunteers also help the shelter's very limited paid staff in caring for the animals. All of this is done with a close eye on the bottom line. Knowing that the CTSPCA provides such loving care and makes each and every penny count for all cats and dogs that pass through on the way to their Forever Families, my involvement expanded over the years. I am very proud to be approaching 25 years of volunteer service with this incredible organization!
