Review for Classic Canines Inc, Austin, TX, USA
Classic Canines is not your ordinary animal advocate - they specialize in being the voice for senior pets in need. Some of these have lost their lifelong family for a variety of reasons, and some are strays with unknown histories, and almost all of them are very stressed to find themselves in the shelter system where it's hard on their older joints and/or they aren't getting all of their emotional needs met due to overcrowding. Senior animals have a much harder time being adopted out compared to young puppies. Our senior lab "Buford" adopted us a few years ago. He was originally found lying in the middle of a busy street, suffering from numerous severe wounds to his elbow, hind quarters, face, throat and ears, and had given up all hope. Classic Canines brought him into their program, arranged for a foster who would oversee his immediate and intense vet needs - all paid for by Classic Canines - until he was healthy enough to adopt us. We have seen first hand as a client and donor how much they can do on a shoestring budget and how dedicated they are to their mission. They provide medical care and/or help senior dogs be the best family member they can be for their adoptive family, and they work hard to match the right dog(s) with the right family for success. When you volunteer or donate here, you're making a big impact not only for a senior animal, but in your community!
Review for Central Texas SPCA , Leander, TX, USA
CTSPCA IS NOT YOUR ORDINARY ANIMAL SHELTER! We adopted our first family dog (Sheba) from CTSPCA back in 1998, and were so impressed with the experience that my daughter and I became donors and volunteers. We have fed/walked dogs, fed/played with cats, helped out with a number of adoption events, Barktoberfests and other fundraising events over the years. While the dogs and cats are in the shelter’s care, they are not confined to tiny dirty cages – the dogs have decent-sized clean outdoor shaded play spaces with toys and some kiddie pools, and when the dogs are inside, they have decent-sized kennels with bedding/toys/treats and other comforts. The cats have clean large home-like rooms complete with cat trees, windows toys and other comforts. Several years later, my daughter started working in the office helping with adoption processing to ensure every cat and dog goes to the home best suited for the animal. Our family has been involved with this organization in a variety of ways for over twenty years now. We have seen first hand as a client, volunteer, employee and donor how much they can do on a shoestring budget and how dedicated they are to their mission that we decided to become major donors to help them save even more animals in need. When you volunteer or donate here, you're making a big impact.
