As much as I want all the dogs to get rescued and I hate leaving a 1 star review for a shelter, I do not recommend anyone going with Dexter Foundation. Back in 2018, a friend was temporarily fostering a dog from the Dexter Foundation and I wanted to adopt the dog and give it a forever home. I tried to go through the formal process of submitting an application through Dexter Foundation's website, my friend also tried reaching out to her contact at Dexter Foundation and received no response. After multiple attempts of trying to reach someone, I ended up adopting the dog and not going through the formal process because that was impossible. This was 3 years ago. The chip for my dog is still under Dexter Foundation and I've been trying to get it transferred for the last 3 years and still no response. Someone FINALLY reached out to me and wants to schedule a house visit as a "formality" to get the chip transferred and to check up on our dog which I think I absurd granted I've already been taking care of my dog for several years already. I believe everything here is run by volunteers so it's understandable if they don't have consistent staff. The lack of response for so long is just unacceptable.
