Review for For The Love Of Birds A New Jersey Non Profit Corporation, Belford, NJ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

A few years ago my beloved bird decided I was the devil and turned on me. He chose my ten preteen daughter as his new mom. He began to scream and charge the cage and throw heart wings at me if i was anywhere near him in the home. We tried behavioral modification, hormone shots with the vet, years or different strategies but he was miserable. He was only happy if my daughter had him. My daughter now a teen in HS planning college cannot commit to the time my bird needed to be held and played with every day since i couldn't so much as clean the cage without Skittles losing his mind.

We had taken him in as a foster and adoption at 4 years old. He was my bird for 9 years and then "her bird" for 3 more. He stopped playing with toys, it was all aggression all the time. We knew he deserved better. So we spoke with for the love of birds. Once an experienced foster was found (as we were not sure if the happy Skittles my daughter has would go or the angry Skittles i have (Dr Jeckle and Mr Hide) we took a bit of a drive to his new foster mom. I've received updates and they were and are very professional.

This is heartbreaking for our family and they have been so kind. The first thing they did was give us more ideas to try (just as our vet had been doing for years) and they honestly wanted to help us. They are kind caring people who really love birds.

I'm happy to report that after a week Skittles is kissing and being pet and cuddling! Things he used to do but stopped doing here. It's sad, it really was just me that made him miserable. All from a fateful day where i took him off a lamp and he just turned. I miss my buddy, i cried at his drop off but i know i did what is right and this organization did not make me feel anything but positive towards what could be the rest of his life. I know a bird is for life, but my bird needs a chance at a better one. Thank you For the Love of Birds!
