Review for Shekinah Gloria Ministries, Inc., Liverpool, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I had the opportunity to travel with Shekinah Gloria Ministries to Peru in 2009 and to see firsthand the amazing work that they are doing!

The village in the area they planted their school has flourished in leaps and bounds since they began their project there back in 2004. To see such a huge impact in the lives of the locals there moved me like nothing else in my life!

The school felt like an oasis in the middle of the desert and the children were some of the happiest I've ever seen in my life.

To see the thousands of lives touched as we traveled around the country, and to give away multiple tons of food was lifechanging and I cannot thank Shekinah Gloria Ministries enough for the amazing opportunity!

Some large organization have a tendency to utilize a majority of their funding for administrative costs and salaries and these guys have never once spent a single penny from donations on administrative costs or salaries! THEY HAVE TAKEN NO SALARY AND PAID ALL ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS OUT OF POCKET SINCE DAY ONE IN 2004!!

I really hope that this organization grows and expands, while keeping the same objectives and mindset that they currently have- the world has become a better place because of their work!!!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Trujillo, Cajamarca, and Lima, Peru.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Get them more funding so that they could work fulltime and take salaries. If they have done such an amazing work with a parttime effort and very little funding I would love to see what they could do with serious funding. They've already done so much with so little. I can't fathom what they could do with more.

Would you volunteer for this group again?

Life-changing

Did the organization use your time wisely?

Very Well

Would you recommend this group to a friend?

Definitely

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

The only thing that they could improve is something that was really out of their hands, which was the altitude sickness. They couldn't prevent it, but did their best to help when it came on.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

It taught me so much about the reality of the world, and how blessed I truly am. I met dozens of new friends and my life will forever be changed!
