This was a challenging 2020-2021 year that we teachers will never forget. During this covid pandemic, learning took place in such an unconventional way. Kindergarteners, who have never been to public school, had to adapt to numerous changes as well as learn to maneuver the computer in the zoom classroom to attend school every day. It was also quite a challenge for some parents and grandparents who were unfamiliar with technology as well. Nonetheless, we learned together and grew together. Some eventually came to school in blended learning, while others remained distance learners. But not once have they come together as one. What better way to end the year and acknowledge all of our accomplishments by planning an end of year celebration. It was a time to show appreciation for our year long perseverance and willingness to persist, adapt and move forward together. Parents as well as students were asked to participate in a drive thru celebration together. Each child was shown the contents of their goodie bag and was thrilled in anticipation of the event. Not only were there tons of food goodies in the bag, there were also facial masks, super hero masks, paper airplane, and even bubble wands. Each bag was adorned with a balloon. They also received a bento lunch. The children felt so special. Thank you so very much Keaukaha School Foundation for your yearly unending support and for funding monies to make the goodie bags and this very joyous and very appreciated event possible.
