Review for Treasure Coast Hospice, Stuart, FL, USA
Several years ago I attended Camp Good Grief put on by Treasure Coast Hospice. The team sat me in a circle of 20 girls ages 8-14 that had each lost a parent. A Grief Counselor led the meeting and used music therapy to assist teaching the young girls grief management tools. For two hours I sat directly next to an 8-year old girl who said nothing while we made noises on instruments and followed the counselor's directions. At the end of the session, the girl looked at me with big brown eyes and said "I really miss my daddy". I was hooked.
Later I would learn that Medicare doesn't reimburse for the grief counseling department at Treasure Coast Hospice and it is 100% community supported. Many for-profit Hospices simply send a postcard with a few bullet points to assist with grieving.
I am fortunate to enjoy a great business on the Treasure Coast and feel obligated to give back to the community. Almost daily I hear stories of how a Treasure Coast Hospice "Angel" helped a family member or loved one. Treasure Coast Hospice is my charity of choice because it helps people and eases the pain of families while going far and above the requirements set by the government.
