Review for Children of the Night, Inc, Los Angeles, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Once a week for the past eight years I've taught journalism at the shelter's on-site school. Getting to know these kids and witnessing Lois Lee's dynamic dedication to their well being has inspired me to become a major donor as well as a volunteer. I am honored to have recently been asked to join the board. Without this program these children would have nowhere to be safe. Because of it, the sky's the limit for what they can achieve!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I've seen kids come in angry, lost and with no direction completely turn their lives around.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Nobody in the world could come close to accomplishing what Lois does.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Watching a new student come to my class who says they either can't or don't want to write - learn to express themselves on paper for the first time and then not be able to turn it off because they are enjoying the process so much.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

The principal who is also the only teacher of the entire school is able to teach each child individually and bring them up to their grade level and beyond in record time. The students love and admire her!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Rescue more kids and maintain the enormous alumnai association.

Ways to make it better...

I had more time and more money to give.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

There's no challenge that Lois Lee can't overcome. She's a miracle worker.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I get way more out of working for Children of the Night than I give.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009
