My Nonprofit Reviews
Chris John N.
Review for National Brussels Griffon Rescue Incorporated, Dallas, TX, USA
In 2013 we found these two handsome gents through NBGR. They rescued them from an Ohio puppy mill. Their entire life up to that point had been spent in the mill...never knowing human kindness, human touch, or love. They were used solely for breeding. At the ripe old age of approximately 3 years, the breeder was done with them. Along with two other "cell mates", they were dropped off at a local vet in a box with written instructions for them to be destroyed. NBGR thankfully intervened and stopped this from happening.
We were in the market for one additional family member, however, seeing the bond that Russell and Hudson shared, it was a no brainer that we were going to acquire two.
Unsure and afraid of dog toys, leashes, hardwood floors, people, and just outside life in general...these two boys were clearly broken. They would sit in the corner, fearful of the world around them. Our hearts, along with theirs, were broken.
Through 8 years worth of love, treats, and gentle handling, these guys have come a long way. They are healthy, walk on a leash, get pampered at the groomers, play with toys, cuddle on the couch, have two new sisters they love dearly, and make us laugh on a daily basis. They're continuously learning that being held, snuggling, getting kisses, and going for walks are some of their favorite things.
With teary eyes I'm happy to report that they've been saved from being puppy producers, from being stuck in a cage their entire life, and that they are 100% spoiled rotten by their forever family. We love these guys to the moon and back, and look forward to many more years of rewarding progress. And all of this would not have been possible without NBGR. Our entire experience with all of their volunteers has been exemplary. This nonprofit far exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend them!
