My name is Elena Tompkins and I am the Founder of Feed the Fight. In the beginning of the pandemic, I tried to think of a way to help our local restaurants who has been suddenly shutdown. I came up with the idea of raising money to buy food from these restaurants and sending it to local hospitals to help our frontline workers who were overwhelmed with demand. A couple of weeks into our effort, I received a call from Stacy Huston at Six Degrees who has seen a news story about Feed the Fight and explained that they wanted to support us not only financially, but also with Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick doing a promo video and mentioning us during their interviews. I was blown away that an organization as big and established as Six Degrees would consider helping a small group like us, but I can't even begin to tell you what an impact they made. It raised our profile tenfold and definitely led to more corporate sponsorship and just general exposure across the country. A number of other local Feed the Fight chapters were started after the Six Degrees support was announced and countless restaurants AND frontline heroes have been helped as a result. In a nutshell, there were plenty of large efforts underway - World Central Kitchen and others - but I SO appreciate Six Degrees deciding to support our effort as it was a game changer in helping us take our effort to the next level and being able to provide over 50,000 meals to frontline heroes.
