Review for Vera Institute Of Justice Inc, Manhattan , NY, USA

Rating: 1 stars

Vera is a grossly negligent, dishonest and callous organization. It masquerades as a 3rd party guardian for people in need. My sister fell victim to having Vera as her guardian. As she had Cancer, she was in a battle for her life. Also, she had Diabetes and emotional challenges. Under Vera, what happened to her? She deteriorated and she had extensive hospitalizations. Rarely, did Vera come to the hospital to oversee her care. Vera was not involved in major decisions about her medical treatment. Nor, did the organization significantly advocate for her. In fact, under Vera, she languished in one hospital so long, (six months) that she caught a staff infection! As her sister, I tried to assist her as best I could. Another family member made inquiries about her as it was clear something in her life was extremely wrong. Ultimately, a separate city agency stepped in to help her.

What did Vera care about? Money!

From my sister's Social Security check, which Vera had control of, every month, hundreds of dollars were missing. Vera gave phony excuses for the missing money such as...they were holding her money in case my sister went to assisted living; another excuse Vera gave was that...there was a freeze on her money! One month, one of my sister's social workers tried to steal $630.00 out of an $830.00 Social Security check! Only when I threatened to complain to Social Security did Vera suddenly realize that it had made a "mistake" and gave back to my sister, $500.00. What did Vera do with the other $330.00?

One time, Vera placed my sister in an assisted living facility. The facility was dilapidated and the elevators rarely worked. Baldy, in this environment, my sister deteriorated. Because of her Cancer and her mismanaged circumstances, she needed repeated hospitalizations and blood transfusions. Under Vera, from her home, my sister was evicted. Bluntly, Vera told me that if I didn't provide my sister (their client) with housing, they would place her in a homeless shelter. My sister cried.

My sister continued to decline.

Under Vera, she died May 27, 2019.

Against Vera, lawsuits should be filed. The organization should be shut down! If you are an attorney, willing to accept my case, to reach a negligence settlement with Vera, please contact me at Silvereagle124@yahoo.com

Asking for attorney inquiries.
