My spouse and I had been thinking about becoming foster parents for quite a few years, but unfortunately had we had been discriminated against by several agencies because we are a gay couple. We had almost given up on our desire to become volunteer Resource Parents, when by chance I came across the Family Health Support Network website. Something moved me to reach out to FHSN. It was an amazing interview conversation - welcoming, professional, and genuinely down-to-earth. I knew immediately that this was the foster care agency that we had been seeking. Now a year later, we are three months into our first child placement. If it truly takes a village to raise a child, the Family Health Support Network is our "village". The parenting training, all-round support, and subject-matter expertise provided by FHSN staff members to produce competent and caring Resource Parents to provide for kids in need of a safe and stable environment are incredible.
