Review for Working For Women Inc, Kingston, NY, USA
In my second term as a Board member, I remain energized and inspired by Working for Women's mission, passion and dedication in engaging the business community to get more women into the workforce and towards economic independence. Working for Women is addressing a gap in the giving arena by pursuing collective giving from businesses of all sizes who realize that when more women contribute in the economy, everyone wins. Working for Women connects businesses to the growth of grassroots nonprofits serving different groups of marginalized women, and is showing there's a way to give back better. I'm staying involved as long as it takes to work with the founder, staff, and my Board colleagues to keep this effort growing.
Review for Working For Women Inc, Kingston, NY, USA
When I first met Working for Women founder Beth Bengston, I knew I wanted to be part of her team. Her passion to help under-served women get into the workforce and become economically independent by tapping the business community makes perfect sense. It's a unique approach that fills an important gap in the giving arena. By focusing on women who need a point of entry -- by working through existing organizations to deliver tangible skills and resources, we can build a future that is equitable, productive and prosperous for all. There's a need, there's room to achieve this, and there's now an organization helping businesses see their way forward to this purpose. The evidence in just the early years of Working for Women speaks to its potential. As a working Board Member, my time is well spent here. Everyone involved wins - and I mean everyone.
