Review for Hearts Alive Village, Las Vegas, NV, USA

Rating: 5 stars

What an amazing rescue! My husband & I moved to Henderson, NV about 3 years ago. We learned so much about animal rescue & Hearts Alive Village from our neighbor Amy, who was fostering for them at that time. When the pandemic hit this year, there was great concern that many pets were going to be turned into animal rescues & shelters due to people being unable to feed them or provide medical treatment for them. Many foster homes were going to be needed for those pets! My husband & I decided we would try fostering. It has been 10+ years since either of us has had a pet. Since it had been so many years, Amy told us she would find the perfect pet for our first fostering experience. We knew we wanted a dog, but that was about it. A few weeks later, Amy informed us she found us a dog. Her name was Sugar & she was a 13 year old Boxer. Just looking at her you could see she was malnourished & her nails were incredibly long. HAV took her to a vet & had her checked out. Besides needing a dental cleaning, (and her nails clipped) she was in great shape! It took a bit of time for us to get used to having a dog, and it took Sugar some time to adjust to her new home, but it has all worked out! We have adopted her & couldn't imagine life without her! Some may say we're a "foster failure", but we say it's "foster to furever"! Thank you Amy for finding us the perfect dog, and thank you Hearts Alive Village for rescuing Sugar and the multitude of other animals you rescue! Without Hearts Alive Village & Amy (who is now Director of Operations for Hearts Alive Village), we would not have our sweet Sugar! Thank you Hearts Alive Village for being the Pet Disaster relief center & feeding the 1000's of pets you have fed (and continue to feed) through this pandemic. Thank you for working so hard on the low cost Animal Clinic. I know it's been a lot of work so far, but just thinking about how many pets you're going to be able help with everything from immunizations to spays / neuters and assisting pet owners with other medical issues so the pets can stay in their homes & out of shelters (or worse situations), it's so with it! You are truly an amazing group of people! Sugar's before & after picture....and here's her right now!
