Review for Zumas , Littleton, CO, USA
I only recently began volunteering here, but they've been working hard the past year to really put themselves out there and showcase what they do for horses and how they use their rescue horses for therapy to help people in return. So it's people helping horses helping people -- a beautiful cycle. Plus, Zuma's partners with students of equine medicine to give more hands-on opportunities to study horses and learn how they behave.
This isn't a dog and pony show, puns absolutely intended. This is an organization that holds themselves to the highest of standards with cleanliness and safety at the forefront. Horses have easy to understand labels, so volunteers know which horses are safe to love on and which ones to give some space to. This keeps us safe and keeps the horses feeling like their space is respected and valued. Every volunteer at every shift takes their turn mucking, so you never feel like you have to watch your step.
Zuma's is focused on partnership across the board, and it shows from the way they train their volunteers to the gear they use on the horses themselves.
