When I think of those suffering from famine, malnutrition, drought and poor economic situations around the world, I think of CRS. The mission of CRS is not only to bring immediate relief efforts to the poorest of the poor of our international community, but to stay and help rebuild the community to sustain itself! That means contributing direct resources so folks purchase goods from local farmers, applied science is used to update agricultural techniques, and water wells with filtration systems are engineered for the people to thrive.

When we contribute to Catholic Relief Services, we become part of the mission to help those who are suffering abroad so they can be able to thrive and contribute to their own community and abroad themselves. This is how the gospel of Jesus Christ turns into action.

Sometimes you hear the terrible news that other relief agencies provide immediate relief and then disappear, or the resources they provide puts local businesses out of business thus leaving the community they were assisting worse off. Not with CRS. That is why I advocate and support Catholic Relief Services. I know my contributions will make a difference in the lives of those who are hurting.
