Review for Compassion Without Borders, Santa Rosa, CA, USA
Compassion Without Borders does extraordinary and outstanding work in the field of dog rescue and rehabilitation. CWOB co-founders, Dr. Christi Camblor and her husband Moncho Camblor and their young son Diego are the heart and soul of this organization, based in Santa Rosa, California. They are totally hands on, and extremely hard working - as are the rest of the staff and a very loyal and enthusiastic band of volunteers. CWOB rescues dogs from impoverished neighborhoods across the border in Mexico, and also from the central valley of California. Every couple of months they make a journey from Santa Rosa CA to their facility in Mexico, which includes a clinic as well as special kennels for moms with pups. Here dogs that were rescued in dire condition have been brought back to good health, given a full set of shots and are then transported to the USA sometimes for further rehab and surgery, but ultimately for adoption. These dogs are extremely popular, being typically small to medium sized and very sociable and friendly, despite their ordeals. From the California Central Valley, they specialize in medical cases that local rescue agencies cannot take care of. Every dog that is brought to Santa Rosa is given the very best of care and the vast majority go on to happy forever homes. Another aspect of the work is spay/neuter and community clinics both in Mexico and under served districts of Santa Rosa, including for the pets (dogs and cats) of homeless people. Spay/neuter is especially important as it helps break the cycle of so many neglected animals. I am proud to support CWOB as a monthly donor. I feel that every one of my donation dollars does the work of two dollars elsewhere.
