IMPACT Youth Club is a youth volunteer group that was founded in 2013, is based in New Jersey, and aims to give back to the community through various activities as well as fundraisers. In the past, IMPACT has hosted a variety of events such as an Alzheimer's fundraising concert in 2019, Walk-a-Thon pledge for Hurricane Harvey in 2017, and international concerts in countries like Taiwan, Austria, and France. IMPACT operates year-round, and during the school year, hosts monthly senior center concerts at various locations as well as cultural events like our annual Chinese New Year celebration; these events are all student-led. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have continued to give back to the community by hosting virtual concerts for senior citizens.
While completing my community service hours this year, IMPACT has provided me with a multitude of opportunities to develop my leadership skills. I was in charge of monthly senior center concerts at a local senior living center, hosted our annual Chinese New Year celebration, and organized part of the aforementioned Alzheimer's fundraiser. These experiences taught me many valuable skills, such as organization and collaboration, and grew my self-confidence. Not to mention, receiving positive feedback reminded me of my passion for giving back to the community.
Overall, IMPACT has reaped nothing but positive rewards for me. This organization not only fosters a caring support network between its members but encourages individuals to take leadership positions and develop a sense of professionalism. When I first joined this organization, I hardly knew the members and didn't take an interest in leading my own projects. Being in this organization for 4 years has allowed me to make numerous friends and accept leadership positions I never would have dreamed of. Another rewarding aspect of IMPACT is being able to develop a sense of professionalism at a young age. Occasionally, you have to step out of your comfort zone and work through challenging situations. However, in the end, you will become a more mature individual and be able to apply the skills you learned in real life.
If you are looking for a place to not only change yourself but the community around you, consider working with IMPACT: https://www.impactyouthclub.com/
