IMPACT Youth Club (IYC) is an amazing 501(c) non-profit organization that serves local communities in New Jersey, Connecticut, New York, and Taiwan through cultural exchange, performance, and education. IYC is made up of over 100 volunteers ages 5 and up and has done so much for surrounding communities. I joined as a volunteer three years ago, and through these past couple of years, I have learned so much by engaging in community service through IYC and having the opportunity to lead the organization as co-president to where it is today. IYC volunteers have the chance to participate in all kinds of community service activities, like performing at senior center concerts, organizing charity concerts, bagging at supermarkets, doing trail clean-ups and initiating environmental pledges, organizing clothing/eyeglass/music book drives, organizing a free summer tutoring session, delivering meals to seniors, donating masks and PPE, and the list goes on! More importantly, however, IYC volunteers are able to come up with their own projects and initiatives, which makes the IYC experience all the more worth while. IYC is also student-run, giving highly qualified and dedicated volunteers the opportunity to take on leadership roles and learn how to lead an organization and how to mentor youngers students. IYC was also named a President's Volunteer Service Awards (PVSA) certified organization, meaning that dedicated volunteers who accumulate certain numbers of volunteer hours can earn national volunteer awards for their service, an amazing opportunity to reward them for their hard work. Because of how diverse IYC's community service initiatives are, and how IYC is student-run, IYC is truly a unique non-profit organization that deserves recognition.
