Review for Golden Empire Council - Boy Scouts of America, Sacramento, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Since moving into the territory of this Council almost three years ago, I have been impressed by the helpfulness of the local volunteers and the professionalism of all the staff that work out of the Sacramento office. A quality program for all youth from kindergarten through early twenties, offering camping and adventures, plus leadership training & opportunities. Older youth can also have additional activities that are more challenging where they often travel farther. Community groups and organizations give high school age students exposure to careers and real-world experiences for community service requirements and internship-type training.

Review for Golden Empire Council - Boy Scouts of America, Sacramento, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My experience with Scouting goes back almost 50 years, and spans a number of councils, districts, area activities and units in northern California. I am impressed with the dedication of the volunteers and professional staff that bring quality programs to all youth in the area of the Golden Empire Council. More than just outdoor activities, Scouting provides age-appropriate challenges, family-based for elementary boys and girls, youth lead by Middle School, Junior High School, and High School young men and women. All this in a character building, experiential environment, where making mistakes and learning from them is fostered. Scouting has changed from outdoor, survival-based knowledge to a program that used the outdoors top teach cooperation, communication and leadership skills in the most safe and regulated supervised activities. A year-round program, not seasonal, that is ongoing ... real value for the money if you compare with short-term seasons of purely skill-based athletics programs. But Scouting and athletics are not mutually exclusive -- they are compatible and can support each other.
