Review for Front Range Equine Rescue, Ocala, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been a long-time supporter of FRER. They do great work in so many ways: rescuing horses that would otherwise go to slaughter; rehoming horses in need; educating the public about wild horses; and working to end the plight of wild horses captured by the BLM and held in long and short-term holding facilities. I wholeheartedly endorse this fine organization and am proud to be a donor.

Review for Skydog Sanctuary , Malibu, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Skydog Sanctuary does amazing work rescuing wild mustangs and burros from BLM holding facilities. The 9000-acre ranch in Oregon is home to over 100 wild horses and over 30 wild and rescued burros. These are animals who have lost everything -- their freedom, their families, and often their health, both physical and emotional. Skydog restores their freedom and, in many cases, their families too. Skydog asks nothing of them, sees to their physical needs, and makes every effort to restore families and pair animals with friends, so they can live healthy emotional lives as well. I wholeheartedly encourage those who love wild horses and burros to support Skydog Ranch and Sanctuary. I am so grateful for the great work they do.

During this time of COVID and political upheaval, my spirits always get an immediate lift when I view a posting from Skydog Sanctuary on Patreon. Each story about how a wild horse is saved from a terrible life confined in crowded corrals or, worse, sold to a slaughter buyer moves my heart and makes me so grateful. I often get teary just reading how a horse that has been mistreated or has become shut down finds a new beginning at Skydog. Nothing is asked of these horses. They can be free again with space to run for miles. Often Skydog finds the families of these horses and reunites them so a former stallion again has his mares with him. Skydog makes every effort to make sure each horse or donkey joins a herd with compatible animals so they have friends around them. I so enjoy watching the stories of these individual animals from when they are first rescued to their introduction at Skydog and their rehabilitation until they are as close as possible to living the life they were meant to live. Thank you to Clare and all the folks at Skydog for doing what you do, and for giving us on Patreon a chance to be a part of it.
