Review for For Pete's Sake Cancer Respite Foundation, Plymouth Meeting, PA, USA
I simply cannot say enough good things about For Pete's Sake. I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in March 2015. Then after going through all the treatments for my breast cancer, not even a year after, in August 2016 I was diagnosed with colon cancer. My oncologist nominated me for a trip with For Pete's Sake.
For Pete's Sake sent me and my husband on a week's vacation to Davenport, FL. We were able to relax and leave cancer behind. We were able to relax in the pool at the house and by exploring the Florida Theme Parks. It was fabulous not having to worry about cancer or treatments or doctors for an entire week and to just be able to focus on the two of us. We were both smiling the entire time, and we got to experience things for the first time such as Harry Potter World and Sea World. Being a huge Disney fan, I really thought the first time I would cry was when I would see Cinderella's Castle in the Magic Kingdom. But it wasn't until after my first full day of Magic Kingdom, which was also my first full day of this trip, when we were watching the fireworks which is set to the music "Wishes" that I started to cry like a baby. "When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are. anything your heart desires will come to you." This reminded us that dreams really do come true.
This trip really has changed my life in ways that words cannot fully describe. My husband and I continue to talk about this trip three years later and I know the memories we made on this trip will last a lifetime.
What this organization does for families like mine, is beyond amazing. And we are both so grateful to this organization for all that they do. Thank you so much, For Pete's Sake, we will be forever grateful, and words truly cannot describe how thankful we are.
