As a child back in the 60's, I was made to wear the cheapest shoes out there that never look tasted more than a week before my toes would start to stick out. Instead of getting decent ones to wear, we had to put tape on these until the tape didn't help anymore. This was embarrassing because we were not poor. When I had children, they sometimes had to wear second hand shoes if I couldn't afford the Walmart or Payless brands. This, too, was embarrassing. Having experienced this in my own personal life, I understand the embarrassment these children feel. I started donating when I heard about this charity and when I got to see photos of the many happy, smiling faces, it made me happy knowing that at least one less child will ever have to experience not having a nice, new pair of shoes to wear.
