Review for Habitot Children's Museum, Berkeley, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Habitot serves a vital role in the East Bay community. The organization does significant outreach work for low income families, and provides access to hands-on learning for young children that many would not have access to at home. Habitot also provides other services like a toy lending library, which is great for families who can't afford to purchase new toys, and birthday parties for homeless children, which enforce the principal that all people are valued members of the community. This is one of the few organizations where children from all backgrounds learn and play together.

The organization's founder, Gina, has always found a way to help those in need, even when they are unable to pay. She's really quite amazing and inspirational. Donors help to bridge the gap between what the community needs and what people can afford to pay.

Review for ROWLA, Marina Dl Rey, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

RowLA serves an integral role in the Los Angeles community. Due to Title IX, there are many rowing scholarships available for women at top universities, since schools use women's rowing to offset costs and recruiting counts from men's football. RowLA puts the connections in place to assist underserved populations in the Los Angeles community in the college application process. The organization focuses on teamwork, mental and physical health, academic preparation, and college counseling so that young women from any background have the tools they need to succeed in college and beyond. In addition, RowLA operations Erg Ed in Los Angeles, teaching healthy habits to thousands of kids each year. Overall the organization makes a life-changing intervention in the lives of young women from low-income areas, and has made significant contributions at the national level to make the sport of rowing more diverse.

Review for Yspaniola Incorporated, Jamaica Plain, MA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Yspaniola does excellent educational work in an underserved community whose members have experienced discrimination within the Dominican Republic. The organization also has a strong pipeline of American students who help in the community each year. I have supported this organization for a long period of time because they focus on assisting those who need help the most and would not otherwise receive assistance, all in a sustainable fashion.
