Regarding Cancer has been an unbelievable organization for me. In 2010, I lost my brother to colorectal cancer. It was and still is a very difficult time coping with his loss. I met Linda Richards and Diana Dobson with Regarding Cancer when I participated in the Get Your Rear in Gear walk/run which raises awareness and prevention for colorectal cancer. I was able to share my story with them and also learned about their non-profit organization. I was happy to hear that Regarding Cancer helps cancer patients and/or family members affected by a loved one who has/had cancer. I immediately felt that I wanted to get involved with this organization to help others AND help myself by giving back.

Before COVID, I was able to be paired up with and individual who was dealing with a family member's cancer. I was able to give encouragement and advice to help through the difficult time. I also volunteered twice a week for Texas Oncology where I would sit with patients while they receive treatments. Sometimes I would just pass out water and snacks, while other times I would sit with the patients and allow them to tell their story. Sometimes they asked about mine and I would tell them about my brother. It was therapeutic for both of us.

Regarding Cancer has allowed me to volunteer for a cause that is near and dear to my heart. I can't thank Linda or Diana enough for their commitment and hard work for this organization. They have help so many people affected by cancer. Thanks to them, I am able to be a part of this amazing non-profit organization.
