Review for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, Bellflower, CA, USA
I have always been aware of Habitat for Humanity's work, but it was not until I started working and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles that I truly understood the importance and impact of this organization. For the board, staff and volunteers at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles it is all about the families. Every fundraiser, build day, event, press release, partnership, tweet and facebook post has intention behind it - to make affordable housing a matter of conscience and action for hardworking families in Los Angeles. Over the past couple of years I have seen a new ReStore open, environmental sustainability become a priority and a number of lives changed. With more funding and more advocacy, I truly believe that the sky is the limit for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the way that Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles has the ability to bring together staff, volunteers, donors, partners, city governments, etc. to make a tangible difference in greater Los Angeles.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Make sure that their work is understood by more people. A lot of people have misconceptions about the organization; that it was started by President Carter and that the homes are given away. In actuality President Carter is just its most famous volunteer and partner homeowners must contribute sweat equity, make a manageable down payment and pay back a zero-interest mortgage.
