I just finished up my 6th year volunteering for NGF, and I wouldn’t trade a single second for anything else. We are able to bring so much positivity into the kids’ lives by motivating them to learn, offering our friendship and support, and providing them every opportunity for success. It is truly such a rewarding experience. Although I am about to go to college, I really wanted to help out during the COVID-19 crisis as it disproportionately affects the NGF kids’ learning. What started as a few tutors on a Google Meets call with a couple dozen students, turned into a very large and successful online program and my most memorable summer with NGF. I love how the culture among the volunteers involves always putting our kids first by thinking of ways to make their classes more engaging or using our spare time to create helpful lessons for them. I’m excited to see how NGF continues to grow, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to serve all of our kids!
