My husband and son have been volunteering at NGF for over a year now. They enjoy it so much they persuaded me to join them so now we volunteer there as a family. It is really wonderful to see the children grow and learn. I volunteer as an ESOL teacher for the parents of the students. I enjoy seeing their bright and eager faces every Saturday, ready to learn. The staff and volunteers at NGF are passionate and caring, and foster a warm and loving environment for both the students and their parents. They do a terrific job!
Volunteering with NGF with my daughter over the summer was such a special experience. Next generation focus and its volunteers have such big hearts and are changing lives.
I love tutoring with Next Generation Focus. I always look forward to it and I get so much joy out of seeing the kids I tutor blossom into understanding and confidence of their abilities. I love the relationships I have formed, and the excitement on the students faces when they finally understand a challenging subject. I've grown in confidence, patience, understanding and creativity through NGF, which will help me in my years to come.
I started volunteering with Next Generation Focus in early 2018. I had no teaching experience (my background in business is HR and Payroll) but was retired and wanted to serve the community that is served by my Church. I felt I could help students with their reading homework and get to know them and their families. I helped the Director during the summer school program and the work required when the organization received a grant for the upcoming fall school program. I am now the Site Coordinator at our Norcross location performing office duties, along with greeting students, teachers and teen volunteers. We offer a safe learning location for our students. I also participate in classes when needed and have learned a lot about children who are our future and deserve every opportunity our community can offer them.
NGF has given me absolutely wonderful and endless opportunities to help me reach my dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. Not only have I been able to get experience teaching children, but I also now get the opportunity to bring NGF to Athens and tutor the children in my area. My love for this program is never ending!
I've been volunteering at Next Generation Focus for about a year now and I had had so many great experiences working with the kids. The organization does so much to individually help each student in the areas they are struggling. Seeing the students grow and progress in their academic skills is such a rewarding experience for me and I am so happy that I am a volunteer at Next Generation Focus and get to experience it. Next Generation Focus has helped so many kids and is such a positive place to volunteer because you get to see how well the kids are growing both academically and in confidence . Next Generation Focus is really special to me and has taught me so much about myself and how much I can impact my community through working with the kids.
I was introduce to next generation focus through a friend who used to volunteer there. I soon became interested and began volunteering as a tutor after school and for the kids. It has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences working with the kids and seeing them progress. As someone who has a passion for learning and educating, I love being able to share that passion with the kids. Next Generation Focus gives me the ability to do just that and is a truly one of a kind program with the opportunities it provides for the children.
When I first decided to be active in this nonprofit I did not know what to expect. However, I did know that I wanted to help my community and visually see the help I was giving and how it would impact others. This organization is amazing and has given me a whole new understanding of the children in my community. Through Next Generation Focus, I have been given an amazing opportunity of be a part of something that makes a difference in childrens’ lives. My experiences showed me that no matter how big the difference is it matters. Working with underprivileged kids as well as those that are struggling in school was so inspiring and it made the children feel as if they were supported and had a community no matter what their circumstances were. I am so grateful to have made the decision to participate and be a part of this strong organization and hope that it grows bigger so more teens can gain the experience I got and more children can get help!
I’ve been a tutor at NGF for almost a year now and I haven’t seen a nonprofit with so much dedication to their kids and their tutors. When people ask me where do I go almost everyday I can’t help but brag that I’m a tutor at Next Generation Focus. The amount of effort that they give the kids both on the tutor and administration part just astounds me. They continue to put the students growth ahead of all else and give vital help to them to ensure their academic success. In short NGF is a great nonprofit and one that inspires me to continue to further myself.
I started volunteering with Next Generation Focus as a freshman in highschool, and I am now currently in my senior year. I have seen some kids grow from fourth graders into eighth graders in that time span, and this organization has really helped them reach their full potential. A kid who was once so shy he wouldn’t read in front of a group of four kids, now goes and helps the tutors and shares the stories he writes. NGF has created an incredible space for kids and teens alike to help and learn within our community.
I absolutely love volunteering with NGF! It’s so fun to work with the kids that come to the program. Over the summer we were able to teach them as well as have fun with them. The kids got to participate in activities such as music, embroidery, drama and science for an hour every Tuesday and Thursday. They were able to have fun while learning something new every time they came!
Next Generation Focus is holding their summer session in our Church where I am a staff member. The program has exceeded our expectations with all they offer to these children who are looking to grow and improve in their educational foundation. While I have not observed the actual tutoring sessions, I have seen evidence of the teaching and have seen two outstanding programs the children have presented as a result of the tutoring sessions.
The staff are very respectful and intentional in dealing with the children as well as other staff members. The families seem to be very appreciative of the opportunity for their children and make every effort to have the children attend each session offered.
Job well done, Amy Sol and staff! Keep it up!!
Amy does a fantastic job administering Next Gen! She is great at recruiting AND training her volunteers and her passion for the children being served by the program is so touching! Our church is blessed to be able to host Next Generation and we hope to continue for many years to come.
Next Generation Focus Inc. had done an incredible job in serving the underserved population in our community. Amy and her staff are dedicated in helping the students in our community have the opportunity to thrive in their education. All the students that come through this program show improvement not only in their grades but in their confidence as students.
Most of our families struggle just to be able to make ends meet and do not have the financial means to help get the extra curriculum support that so many of their children need. We are blessed to have Amy Sol's leadership and her incredible staff that make learning fun for the kids. The kids come in excited to begin their afternoon!
NGF has been such a great organization to volunteer for. They focus on education to help kids feel confident and poised to continue their education and potentially go to college. Amy is so caring and truly wants to enrich the kid's lives and enhance the Norcross community.
I have recently started to volunteer at this amazing program. They focus on getting the kids to learn but in a more creative setting. The kids are always excited to see what’s next and I feel a strong connection with all the children in my class. I couldn’t be happen knowing how much of a difference this is making in the children’s lives
I am new to this program but I love it. You have the opportunity to change and to make and impact in the studentd's lives.
My son and I have volunteered for NGF this Fall. The staff and other volunteers are dedicated to the success of the children. The participating children are eager to learn, and my son and I feel like we are making a difference in these youngsters' lives. Of the not-for-profits that I have experience with, NGF does a great deal, with very modest resources.
NGF is a great place with many opportunities to help children learn about subjects they may struggle with at school. NGF also gives volunteers a place to share what they know and to have a positive impact on the learning experiences of the children who come here.
This is my second year at Next Generation Focus, and I can say that it has been a fantastic experience. When I began to tutor at NGF I did not know what I was in for. NGF has changed me in many ways. Viewing many students struggle and having the opportunity to help them is amazing. I never thought that I would be good at tutoring, but this program has taught me how to help younger students and become a better person. I have viewed this program grow, even in the short time I have been here. I can't wait for more experiences with this program!
The experience that i have had at Next Generation Focus has changed me in a way I cant explain. Every Saturday I look forward to coming to Grace Chapel and working with my students. These students here struggle and its our job to help them and make learning fun. You come to the desired location and work with these kids for 2 hours. We work on math, writing, reading, and math. Its great when a student smiles when they finally get something. Like the light bulb goes off. It makes you happy to know that you can help people grow in a way that they might not have known they could. Being dyslexic, I have found strategies that help me learn and so i have other strategies that might help others. For instance, I have worked with two special needs people while here at NGF, when I first started working with these students, it was hard to get them motivated to work. For each student, I had t find something that got them motivated to do something whether it was math , writing, or reading. For my current student, I reward him for working really hard by making him a shriky dink. For example, he wrote an awesome story about Pokemon and even finished it up at home. Some weeks are better than others but the tutors always find a way to help their students get motivated and have a fun time too. New tutors that come have the opportunity to share their strategies and tips because not one thing works for everyone. Next Generation Focus is a great non profit organization that I am so happy I am a part of.
