I am counselor in Texas and recently I reached out to Alice's kids with a grant request. I have a student whose family has had a lot of difficulties due to health problems of one of their siblings (who also attends our school). She has been hospitalized several times due to a serious heart condition. She has spent weeks in the hospital and that has led to absences and disruption to the whole family's routine. It has also called financial difficulty because her mother who has had to miss a lot of work to attend to surgeries and appointments on a regular basis.

My student is very supportive of her sister and understanding of the sacrifices the entire family must make. Due to missed school, she has had to retake a couple of classes. At the same time, she is in our school's cosmetology program and has a goal of receiving her license next year when she graduates. In order to complete the program (which they have already paid for) and complete her graduation requirements she needs to take two classes over the summer. Alice's Kids has been amazing it helping to make this happen! I appreciate it so much.

My student is a sweet girl and makes many sacrifices so that her sister can receive the care she needs. I love to see her receive this support so that she can achieve her post-high school goal of being a cosmetologist. She has already worked very hard to get this far in the program.
