As a retired educator, I have donated to Alice's Kids for several years because the kind of support they provide for kids fills in the gap between basic survival and improving on a small scale the quality of many difficult lives. Alice's Kids provides professionals who work with children a resource for obtaining relatively low cost, thoughtfully considered and respectfully delivered requests. These requests range from paying for the replacement of out-grown/worn out shoes to funding art therapy for a trauma-ridden child to providing the fee for a school field trip to a store gift card for new clothes after a house fire. As both the knowledge of this non-profit's services and the amount of monies donated has grown, Alice's Kid’s has become a strong and compassionate gift to America's children.
Alice's Kids is just what it says... a charity to help kids in need to experience the joy of having a pair of new shoes for school, a prom dress, joining a sport, a new coat or clothes, and so much more.
Alice's Kids has brought happiness to many kids thru their compassion and care for kids.
When my brother and I formed this charity back in 2011 I dared to dream that we would someday be helping thousands of children across our nation. I am proud to say we are doing just that. We have kept our commitment to providing children with a basic item that makes them feel better about themselves and we do this while maintaining their dignity. No child wants to know they have received charity, and we strive to make sure they never know, allowing their parents/guardians to be the hero in that child's eyes; as it should be. Working with an amazing board and tireless volunteers we continue to grow stronger and are giving children what they need to increase their self esteem. Our mother, who did what she could to provide for us, would be very proud this is all done in her name.
Alice’s Kids does such important work—focusing on the small things that are HUGE in terms of the significance their acts have in the lives of children They help a to go to prom, to take music lessons, buy a pair of cleats to enable them to play a sport—the list is so long and the need is never ending. Alice’s Kids does all it can to fill those needs. It is important work and they do an amazing job with their funds.

I eagerly look forward to the newsletter from Alice's Kids each and every time they send one (and sometimes end up crying over them). Their way of helping kids (while keeping their caregiver's pride intact) touches my heart and is the way a nonprofit SHOULD be.

Every day I see how they help children. What may seem small to many is huge to these kids. They directly help children after receiving requests from teachers. It’s beautiful.

I absolutely LOVE Alice's Kids and I'm proud to be a monthly supporter of this wonderful organization. Ron and his team work to provide for needs of children that are often missed by other services (such as food banks, SNAP, etc.) and that allow kids to be kids - by participating in school or other recreational activities, helping with school events, sports, jobs, rebuilding after a traumatic event, etc. Alice's Kids is truly changing lives with every single request granted.

I am a monthly donor to Alice's Kids and it is, without a doubt, the most fulfilling money I spend each month. I don't ever worry that my donations are not being used for the intended cause. Alice's Kids provides updates on requests granted through its social media and reading the posts of a child receiving needed clothes, or books to help a child struggling with anxiety, or sports (or other) equipment for a teen, and all the other numerous requests Alice's Kids grant, is incredibly heart-warming. Alice's Kids is letting children know that they are worthy and loved, just as they are. This is an organization that is changing lives, with every request granted. It is an honor to support Alice's Kids.
I LOVE ALICE'S KIDS & I am not just saying that b/c I am on the board, for I am also a Student Support Specialist for Communities In Schools of Memphis (CISM), in which part of my charge is to try and remove barriers that cause children not to succeed. Alice's Kids (AK) is one of the most valuable and outstanding partners CIS has, for the organization helps make our mission a reality. Alice's Kids has tremendously blessed several of the at-risk and poverty stricken families/scholars that I serve by providing them with means to purchase simply basic needs, which has a long-lasting impact. Just today, during a Site Visit, one of my families shared how the help truly impacted her girls. Thanks to Alice's Kids, they were able to get new uniforms , for they had outgrown their old ones and due to health issues prohibiting Mom to work, she could not afford new ones. Well, Mom said once they got their new uniforms, their grades went up, their attitude about going to school improved; they started participating more in class, etc. Mom said "when you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you do good!" Thank you Alice's Kids for helping these scholars feel better about themselves whereas now they are doing good & beyond in school.
I LOVE ALICE'S KIDS!!!!! AK IS MY HERO!

I proudly sit on the board and support the work of Alice's Kids. I have been involved with nonprofit board service, management and face-to-face advocacy for over 15 years. I can say that Alice's Kids commitment to children in need and the breadth of their reach is truly special. While other nonprofits do great work on a systemic level, Alice's Kids provides targeted, immediate assistance to individual children in exactly the form that they need at the exact moment in time that they need it. Imagine a child in a small town in Indiana who cannot afford soccer cleats but desperately wishes to play on a team after school. Alice's Kids will send that child a gift card via email - all within just 48 hours - and that child's dream has been met without ever knowing that the funds came from charity. Alice's Kids is able to do so by keeping its overhead very low and channeling the great majority of its funds directly and quickly to kids all over the country who are in need. Highly recommend this charity to anyone!
I am proud to be the President of Alice's Kids! When my brother and I began this venture we never realized how important it would become in the lives of so many children. When we receive donations, the donor very often will write a note commending Alice's Kids; some such comments have been: "Love the work you do", "Thank you for keeping the dignity of the children first and foremost", "As a teacher I see first hand the impact you are having on children whose parent's have limited means", "You are changing lives". I am proud of the hard work that is executed by our volunteers and paid staff. They each have a dedication to this organization and to putting smiles on the faces of children.

Alice's Kids has a unique ability to understand children and their feelings. They know that basic needs such as new sneakers or money to join a scout troop make the child feel like they fit in. They also understand that a child does not want to be known as "the charity case" so all requests for items are given anonymously: the child does not know they are receiving charity and Alice's Kids does not know the child. This organization understands compassion. Alice's Kids fills a real need that was otherwise left unrealized.
I am a long-time donor to Alice's Kids. I love the fact that they help in my community. I also love how the children don't know the money is charity - it's empowering to parents to be able to do something for their kids. I know their overhead is low so I also know that my donation is going directly to help kids and not going for administrative expenses. I can't say enough great things about Alice's Kids.
I became aware of Alice's Kids a number of years ago after reading an article about them in The Washington Post. I have been a donor ever since. I love that this charity provides kids with the extras that mean so much while protecting the dignity of their parents. From new backpacks to school trip supplies to glasses to musical instruments and much more, this charity is a treasure. I recommend it wholeheartedly!
As a retired teacher/social worker, I am aware of numbers of resources for children. None that I have encountered provide for the relatively small but significant needs that so impact a child's self-worth, and in the process make sure the child does not feel they are receiving charity. Donations to Alice's Kids
As a retired teacher/social worker, I am very familiar with resources for needy children, but none that provide the relatively small but important things that mean so much to a child's joy and self-esteem. These provisions do not come as charity, but enable parents to become the provider. Any donor can feel confident that their money is wisely spent, and in so many ways actually becomes life changing.
Alice’s Kids is a wonderful organization who we are fortunate to be able to collaborate with to meet student needs. They consistently provide financial support to students whose families have limited resources. They are a generous, kind and compassionate organization who are making a difference in the lives of children. I thank them for everything that they do for kids!!!
I've worked with this organization for over a year as a volunteer on the gift card team. The requests are varied, from clothes and shoes to art supplies, headphones, a rolling bookbag, you name it. The stories attached to the requests are sometimes heartbreaking. So many revolve around bullying due to lack of well fitting clothes and shoes. It may seem like a small request to make, but the difference some of these fulfillments can make are very real. The fact that the card goes to the parent to make the purchases, preserving dignity for both the student and parent, is amazing. It's a way to improve the world we live in, one card at a time.
I've been honored to be a donor to Alice's Kids for the past few years, and it's been incredible to see the direct impact that donor support has on young lives. The transparency with which they operate is so refreshing, and the work they do is so important.

I have been a longtime donor to Alice’s Kids & for the past 5 years, I am now an active volunteer with this organization. I currently volunteer as one of 16 gift card volunteers, we are the group who fulfills the requests we get from teachers & social workers, I see first hand the tremendous, overwhelming need that so many school age children face in the US & feel extraordinarily grateful that Alice’s kids provides a means to provide financial support to these children, in a dignified & supportive way. Alice’s Kids provides gift cards to the parent or guardian so they can go with their child to make necessary purchases, just as any parent would do with their child, in such a way that the child does not feel belittled receiving charity & the parent can feel proud to shop with their child

I proudly serve as a gift card volunteer with Alice’s Kids, one of several volunteers who have the honor of purchasing requested gift cards & getting them to the student in need
The situations I’ve encountered over the years would just break your heart...paying for shoes so a child could attend his murdered father’s funeral, purchasing eyeglasses to correct severe color blindness allowed a child to see the world as it is, a medication lockboxallows the mother to safely store medication for her suicidal daughter...too many to recount
Alice’s Kids’ motto is “A Little Help Goes a Long Way”- I have seen firsthand how this “little” helps greatly enhances the students way of life...donated anonymously & with dignity & respect
Alice's Kids has been nothing short of remarkable over the past 3 years we have been using them in Berkeley County, WV. I am a Communities In Schools site coordinator and I have called on the help of Alice's Kids many times as have my colleagues. Often times we do not have the immediate resources to help some of our students and families. Alice's Kids has helped many of our students with basic needs of clothing, glasses, shoes, etc. They respond quickly and send the voucher, what feels like immediately. Our students and families are always grateful and I have always been able to count on Alice's Kids to help support our students in need.
We are so grateful to have the support of Alice's Kids. Our client's children now have a school desk and ready for distance learning! The work you do have significantly impacted our school community. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Alice's Kids is an amazing non profit organization. As a Family Specialist I encounter many different situation of why our student and families need assistance. A single mom called me to request some resources for her son that has academic challenges needed art supplies. She was so focused on purchasing clothing that she forgot that there would be extra expenses for the classes the son had enrolled in high school. Not only did they supply the gift card to purchase all his art supplies but they also added extra money so mom can buy him more clothes. Mom stated that he has the biggest smile and his face was so bright of enthusiasm and was very thankful for everything he needed for his class and no longer had to borrow supplies. The money they provided was so meaningful to this student and his mom. Thank you once again for all you do.
Alice kids has made such an impact on kids lives. We know we have a great organization to turn to when we have a child in need. Children have been able to get school supplies or new clothes after they have had to leave their home with nothing but the clothes on their back. Alice kids has been there to help bring back some joy to the kids. Thank you.
Alice's Kids has helped my students countless times over the past couple of years, and I could not be more grateful for their quick responses, generosity, and professionalism. Just this week they were able to save the day by getting one of my students a booster seat so he could ride in the cab to school. This family is currently homeless and gets cab transportation for their young children to get to elementary school. We had jumped through every hoop to get him enrolled and set up for school with transportation, but the final barrier in place was that he didn't have a booster seat for the cab ride! My district couldn't fund this need, but Alice's Kids jumped in and allowed for this child to get the school-based support that he so desperately needs. THANK YOU, ALICE'S KIDS!
Alice's Kids helped supply children in our emergency shelter program with technology needed for remote learning in light of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. These children are inherently more vulnerable to learning loss than many of their peers due to their homelessness situation. It is critical that we provide the supplies they need to mitigate any learning loss during the 2020-2021 school year. With a donation of headphones from Alice's Kids, these children will experience better connection with their virtual learning sessions, and will enjoy quiet, focused individual study. Thank you Alice's Kids!
Alice's kids provided headphones to students who needed support for distance learning. We are so very grateful that these kids can participate in distance learning with less distraction from background noise. The process was easy, which allowed students to be served quickly. Thank you, Alice's Kids!
I could write a chapter book bragging about the wonderful work and the abundance of help I have received from Alice's Kids. I am a Site Coordinator at an elementary school in an impoverished community where I support the needs of the entire school, students, and families. I also intensely case manage 10% of the school's total student population.
Often times, my school and the families we serve are in need of things such as help paying for a field trip, help paying for graduation, help paying for glasses, help paying for books, and now that we are virtual due to the pandemic many students need headphones for learning. And some times, the families just need a funded night out at the movies to relieve stress and bond because the single parent in the home has to work long hours and still can't afford leisure time after paying necessary living expenses. Alice's Kids have supported all of the aforementioned needs.
I am forever grateful to Alice's Kids for helping to mitigate some of the risk factors experienced by my students and their families so the students can focus on achieving in school and in life.
THANKS A MILLION ALICE'S KIDS!!!!!
-A Proud and Grateful Site Coordinator
As a school social worker, I am noticing the needs of families increasing during the covid pandemic. Online learning has been a difficult transition for a lot of students. With the help of Alice Kids, I was able to provide a high school student with headphones to engage in her online learning. This is a student who has to supervise 3 younger siblings while trying to access her own education. The headphones would be a great tool to help improve her learning environment. Thanks Alice's Kids!!
Alice's Kids is wonderful. They helped a student be able to purchase some clothes. The student needed the money quickly and Alice's Kids always approves and sends along the gift cards quickly. The money they provided was so meaningful to this student.

Alice's Kids has helped a number of families at my school. They make it so easy and accessible to help families in real, concrete ways. Recently I was impressed by their initiative to support some of our high school seniors since they are missing out on special time with friends as senior year comes to a close. Giving a family an opportunity to get their graduate a special gift was so touching to the families. Wonderful organization!
Alice's Kids helped one of my students with a basic need this month. Students' mom and her four kids are struggling to make ends meet and cover basic needs with one income. Two of the kids have severe cases of ADHD. Mom homeschools one of them and also is caregiver to her dad and grandmother, who have both been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease and on dialysis. Mom shared that her oldest son needed boots for his welding class, but she couldn't afford it because of a lack of funds. Mom asked if I could help and I turned to Alice's Kids. They had sent me a $50 gift card within 24 hours of request, and the student had the boots 3 days later. Alice's kids came through for this family and I thank God for them and the compassion and empathy they showed this family in need! God bless this non-profit and I pray He continues to provide more and more funding to them to help families in need like this one! Thanks again Alice's Kids! You truly blessed this family and me- their Graduation Coach; Communities In Schools of Cleveland County!!!!
Alice's Kids is a blessing. I work with students that struggle day to day and some not even knowing where their next meal will come from. Alice's Kids has given some of these students the ability to go on a class field trip, attend their senior prom, receive a book needed for them to take a test to get certified as a PT, headphones for remote learning, and allow a few seniors the excitement of receiving a gift for their hard work. The financial assistance that Alice's Kids means so much to me and even more to the students. It's organizations like this that help students achieve in school and life. Thank you Alice's Kids for all you do.
Alice's Kids is an amazing organization and works really fast to break the barriers! I work for Communities in Schools of Mid-America a nonprofit where the needs are many. The love to serve kids and help them with their barriers is #1 on our list.
Alice's Kids helped out a homeless student that needed clothing and a coat with providing a Gift Card to JCPenney.
I am a school social worker who sees families struggling hard to make ends meet everyday. When I requested a gift card from Alice's kids so a single income family could purchase some board games to play as a family while all are home during the pandemic (and help everyone get away from the screen), they were super quick to respond. I know the gift will go a long way for this wonderful family.
Our non-profit organization reached out to Alice's kids for help for prescription glasses for a child in our program. Alice's kids responded to our request the same day and offered financial assistance, Alice's kids is a fantastic non profit organization they truly help children!
Thank you so much!
Safe Places
Alice's Kids is always incredibly responsive and fast, a low-barrier way for my clients to get essential items that they need for their children to thrive.
I am so glad I found out about this charity. My children are privileged to never want for anything. I love that the money I donate goes directly to help children who aren’t as fortunate, while allowing them to keep their dignity.
Ron and Alice's Kids made it possible for my client and sibling to obtain necessary resources for school this fall through there generous donation. They were sufficient in responding back immediately to my request and putting a smile on my client's faces during these difficult time. Thank You so much for your kindness and generous heart to the community through your agency.
Alice's Kids funded a child to partake in a University Led Science Program for kids. Due to Covid-19, students are interacting virtually and are unable to go on field trips and experience science first hand. During our virtual after school programs, kids go on virtual field trips, meet scientists and do at home experiences. Alice's Kids funded a child to participate in this program for a full month! Thank you!
Alice's Kids came highly recommended by a colleague and I have been incredibly happy with my experiences with them. Their response time is excellent and very courteous. The donations they offer are also generous. In the non profit space, there are many agencies that make the process complicated and extremely tedious, but not Alice's Kids. Thank you to all their staff who support our students.
The work that Alice's Kids does with underserved children while helping them and their families maintain dignity is a much needed light in the world. The stories they share always brighten my day.
Alice's Kids is an amazing organization! They have hearts to help and are making a difference. I work for a nonprofit where the needs are many as our locations are all located in below poverty zip codes. Alice's Kids have stepped up to met some of those needs! They are putting smiles on the faces of our youth and their families! We are very grateful!
As a school social worker, I work with our homeless students. Alice's kids has helped me provide students with clean bed sheets, undergarments, and clothing. These are all basic necessities that mean so much and boost our students' confidence in order for them to be successful at school.
Alice's Kids is such a blessing to have as a resource. I am a school counselor at an elementary school and when I find myself in a bind locating items for students that they need to have basic needs met, Alice's Kids has ALWAYS been there to assist. I have had to call on them when students are in emergency situations and there is a quick turn around time... I don't know what I would do if I didn't have them to turn to.
I am alway in awe that the smallest act of kindness can make such a large impact in someone’s life. Alice’s Kids provides this kindness in support and dignity that gives recipients the opportunity to move forward through their challenges in life.
My Mama always said: “Just because you can’t help everyone doesn’t mean you should help no one.” I love that Alice’s Kids embodies this credo and it brings me joy to be doing my bit to help out.
I am a regular donor to this amazing charity. The most needy of children get what they need to improve their self worth and their lives. Clothes, shoes, school fees, camps, art supplies,... can be life changers to those who have so little.
Found Alice's Kids on Twitter & was impressed with their mission: its clarity, its direct efforts to kids in need, as well as providing the assistance to the parents, guardians, caretakers, and teachers. This direct assistance helps Alice's Kids truly feel a bit more secure, confident and, yes, loved.
Once I started following & donating when I could, I have been more than impressed with the team's follow up, their kindness, their decency, the transparency, and the organization's belief & devotion to their mission (and their kids, of course!), discussed how else to help, as well as discussing the effectiveness of a Twitter campaign.
The can do spirit, the grace & the commitment of the Alice's Kids' team deserves both accolades, moral support, AND financial support. Looking forward to supporting Alice's KIds today & in the future!
I love how Alice’s kids Is always giving to kids what they need, be it backpacks, books or shoes, always reaching out and doing what she can. So deserving of respect.
I love what Alice does!! Kids need help, some more than others. Alice sees a problem & helps with a solution.
I follow this charity on twitter and I am amazed on a daily basis. You get quick story about the need, then you see how Alice's Children have stepped up, usually going beyond the humble request. Fulfilling the request may be a small amount for Alice's Children, but the impact they make is astronomical! Please, if you are in a position to donate to this great charity, please do so
I have been following this charity for about a year. I was touched by the simple acts of kindness that I read about and felt that this organization had a true sense of what it meant to lending a helping hand. I recently have become a regular donor and urge others to become donors also.
Do love the concept of this charity- fulfilling Unique needs for children who otherwise would be left behind!
This charity helps so many children in need. Sometimes the most important thing to a kid is being able to have an outlet (sports, arts, etc.) but so many low income families just can't afford it. This charity gives immediate funds for school fees, instruments, swim classes, shoes, therapies and so much more than I can list. They deserve all the support in the world!
I love the work that Alice's kids is doing... that it reaches both a need as well as children's emotional needs. Emotional well being is vitally important on their path. I am so grateful that Alice's kids have carried on with her vision. We need more of this in the world today!
This is a wonderful non-profit that directly helps kids with their needs. They share stories about donations so you feel like yoire part of the help.
An amazing organization that positively impacts children, with grace and compassion, in tangible ways.
This organization helps so many with so little but even the smallest gestures land large when it’s all someone has. Thank you to everyone who works there and I hope they grow to help many more.
Had to contribute to this non-profit upon reading the stories attached to their donations...so much good here!
This charity helps so many children. They have been helping children for years. Each year more and more kids are helped. It's really something to read the stories.
Alice’s Kids is such a kind, caring, empathetic organization. I can truly see they care about the everyday struggles that everyday people endure in our society. I love that they take the time to reach out and give hope.
This nonprofit fills direct needs for children that other aid will not and does not cover. I follow and share their twitter posts. Their mission is uplifting, inspiring, & very worthwhile. I will donate when I'm able!
I love the stories this charity gets to tell due to the truly wonderful acts of kindenss they provide for underserved children.
I've been following Alice's on twitter from South America and I'm blown away by the simplicity and effectiveness of their work. It is something I would love to see acknowledged at global level And replicated. Doing a little for someone in need goes great lengths in terms of impact and also un creating awareness amongst would be small donors to see that even small steps do hell. After 25 years in aid this is one of the best things I've seen.
Alice’s kids is amazing and provides so many things to kids in need. It’s heartbreaking and also heartwarming to know so many have limited access to things we take for granted and Alice’s kids helps to provide them!
Alice's Kids is a unique non-profit in that we hear about their direct impact as it happens. Following them on Twitter, I've gotten to see all the ways they change kids' lives that may seem small to us, but are everything to the children. While donating to larger non-profits is obviously very important and their work is immeasurable, Alice's Kids makes me feel like I have a direct line to helping those in need. Follow them @AliceWillHelp to see the stories
Amazing nonprofit that provides needy kids with gift cards so they can participate in activities & events that they usually get left out of — like tickets to prom or field trips, new school shoes, toiletries, art supplies, new clothes, or to pay for a special lunch because of good grades. The stories shared on their Twitter page are heartbreaking but highlight the important work they’re doing. Truly a special charity and I am so thankful I stumbled upon it!
We have many parents that can't afford to pay for summer camp or winter camp, or Spring Break, we've had parents that needed assistance with clothing or school supplies, there has never been a time when Alice's Kids hasn't stepped in to donate. They have Always given every time we made a request. A Tremendous blessing and a help to parents in our community. I recommend them knowing that the out come will be positive Always
I work for a Dept of Family Services in a county government in Virginia. I come across families in need all the time in my line of work. In one such instance, where funds were limited to the basics of food and rent, Alice's Kids helped a young boy with autism obtain a child's guitar so that he could play with his Dad. The parents of this young boy cried when their son opened the guitar, put it into place, and starting strumming as if he had been given lessons for years. It was a smile on the boy's face they hadn't seen in a while! He is very musically talented. He continues to play the guitar every day and that was over 2 years ago!!
Another incident was a single mother who transferred to Virginia from NJ and was barely making it by (working full time) but having no extra funds for activities for her VERY ACTIVE 9 year old son. Thanks to Alice's Kids, the boy was given 10 weeks of gymnastics! The mother was able to apply for another scholarship within the gym and by the end of that 10 weeks, she had a raise in her job and was able to continue his gymnastic lessons! We all need a chance and we all need help at times....Alice's Kids reaches those who could use that break and use that help! It's one time needs that get met that can change a parent's perspective on life and can change the attitude of a child within minutes! Thank you Alice's Kids for your generous support of children!
I am a Family Advocate in San Luis Obispo, CA. I work with several under-served families in the area. Alice's Kids has provided so much for our community. From gift cards for clothing and shoes to registration fees for sports.
AK was able to provide a bed for a child with autism who had outgrown her toddler bed. Her single mother was unable to get a job because she had to watch her child and did not have family in the state.
During the holiday's a mother in recovery was unable to work due to court orders. Her twin daughters made the high school basketball team. AK provided a gift card for basketball shoes, sports bras, and warm ups. The mother felt so relieved she could give her daughters something for Christmas to show she was proud of them.
Alice's Kids not only helps the parents provide for their children but it helps children with their self-esteem and confidence. I can't tell you how many times a new pair of shoes has made a child's year. AK has changed lives and given families hope. Thank you for all you do.
I love that this non-profit tweets out updates of how the money we donate is being used. I know intellectually that it makes a difference, but it really warms my heart to hear about real children being helped in small but significant ways.
What I love about this non-profit is that they provide the simple things, but those things can be life changing. Things like a soccer kit for a child who can’t afford the gear needed to join a team, or funds to attend the senior trip so a student isn’t left out of memories or science camp for a budding STEM professional. I love how genuine they are.
Alice's Kids is phenomena. I am so thankful my agency has has their support. It takes a village to assist a child. Without Alice's Kids, my job would be impossible. I am the Director of a residential program for teen mothers and their children. The help Alice's Kids gives to us is heartwarming and so inspiring.
As a donor, the detailed and thoughtful updates I receive from Alice’s Kids about their good works both brighten my day as well as affirm my choice that this is an impactful charity to donate to.
Alice's kid's has recently helped children from three different families that I work with. Thank to Alice's Kids an elementary aged boy will be able to attend a science day camp at a dolphin facility, and five teens will be able to start school this fall in new shoes! The application process was easy and I was notified within a day of my requests that funds were awarded. Their care for kids and compassion is evident. The students and I are extremely grateful to Alice's Kids!
I work with women, and their families, who are homeless due to domestic violence. The level of needs for those families is too high and I am always looking for organizations and partners that support our mission and job with those families.
We have found in Alice's Kid a perfect ally to perform our job. Alice's Kid love, passion, and care have been supporting our families in fulfilling their basic needs. Thanks to Alice's Kids' assistance, our clients' children have been able to ride to a library in a new bicycle, or get personal care items, or renew their eyeglasses prescription.
I am a Children's Care Coordinator who assists children and families in need of assistance. Alice's kids is a great organization that provides hope to those families, especially children transitioning out of homeless shelters and into permanent housing that don't have basic necessities for their new room. The organization is very helpful and accommodating.
I was fortunate enough to know a young man both before and after Alice's kids changed his life.
I have had the honor of witnessing what they can do to one child.
Imagine what they could do for so many more
Alice's Kids is a fantastic organization that answers the call for children in need. Small, simple, anonymous acts of kindness that are of great importance to kids. Most impressive is their ability to act swiftly when time is a leading factor.
The posts from Alice's Kinds are a highlight of my twitter feed. These small, wonderful simple acts that most importantly are kept anonymous, allowing the parent or guardian to experience the joy and pride of making something wonderful happen, can be the thing that changes a life. I have donated to Alice's Kids and will continue to support their efforts as I am able.
I heard about Alice's Kids through Twitter and started following their stories. They do such amazing work, one small act of kindness at a time. I think they make a big difference for the kids they help both with the assistance they provide and by letting the kids and their families know that people care. Alice's Kids is a bright spot in an often difficult world.
I came across Alice's Kids via twitter, it was something that as an only child of a single parent, I myself had often thought of reaching out to a school or something and seeing if there was a child that could use a helping hand in some financial way. I realised that as a lone person that may come off as a bit odd, but then found that Alice's Kids had had those same feelings through different experiences of childhood and were acting upon it. I instantly donated, and as often as I can I share information on their organisation, because their micro payment works are the stuff of dreams.
They are truly doing something in not only a worthwhile manner, but by including the teachers and social workers, they are building a community of support that makes that net even stronger and larger to reach out and embrace children in need.
I love what they are doing, they are accepting donations and using them as fast as they come in, and they engage with the public through twitter and other ways.
If you happen to stumble upon their name or see something they have done, and cannot do anything financially yourself, I encourage you to just tell someone, even if it is your own children, let them know that there is such a place as Alice's Kids and let them be the ones that whisper in a teachers ear and let them know that another child is in need in their school, or tell you so you can pass on the information. While teachers and adults do their best, often a child sees more going on than is clear.
Thank you Alice's Kids for making 2020 not so difficult, your goodness brings light to everyday!
I've always been a big believer in charities that work to make the lives of kids better, especially those that recognize that all children want new crayons or the same kinds of clothes their friends wear or opportunities to attend summer camps, take part in sports, or have adventures their parents may not be able to afford. It was a thrill to find Alice's Kids doing all of that, and doing it in a way that doesn't call attention to what the children lack or their parents' poverty, but through giving quietly and behind the scenes. I support this effort and encourage everyone to do the same if you can.
Alice's Kids is a tremendous organization that partners with schools and community organizations to fill unmet needs of children who are facing really tough challenges. I am humbled by the beautiful acts of humanity and kindness that Alice's Kids makes possible.
I'm proud to support this organization don't such good for so many children. And all in ways that respect those children's dignity.
I love that they help anonymously so the kids don’t know it was charity. Helps the kids and parents maintain some dignity. I look forward to their updates on Twitter, since it’s pretty much guaranteed to make you smile.
My wife is a social worker and tells me of the great things Alice's Kids does by funding quality-of-life needs for children: new shoes, clothes for the prom, camp fees, art supplies, and books. I love their shift to sending books to kids who lost access to libraries when schools shut down this past spring. They are giving kids hope in small but essential ways.
Alice's Kids is a great charity that effectively and immediately makes an impact on children's lives.
Stumbled on Alice's Kids on Twitter and was immediately taken with their unique approach. Little things mean so much! So thoughtful, genuine and loving. I'm a proud supporter of Alice's wonderful work
This charity is designed around self esteem and empowerment of underprivileged children.
How can anyone be indifferent to their plea?
To give children what they need to feel better about themselves (even the little things), and to give parents the dignity to get those things for their children which helps improve the family dynamic, is a much needed focus in today’s world. Alice’s Kids does exactly that. What they provide is worth so much more than money.
I support Alice’s Kids because they look at individual children who need help. Getting new shoes, suit coat, money for camp, or even a gift card for a meal out with your family can mean the world to someone. I have never felt better about donating to such an amazing organization!
The gifts these kids are receiving may be the one bright spot in their young lives that let's them know they matter. Love reading those & am making this one of my designated causes for charity this year!
I first read came across Alice's Kids when I read an article in the Washington Post. I've since become a yearly contributor. They don't bombard you with more requests for money, but instead send a maybe quarterly email with reports on stories of children they've helped. It's a bright spot in my day reading those stories. They respond quickly to emails. And they are truly thoughtful in allowing the families they help as much dignity as possible. I just love this organization.
I have been so touched and impressed with the work of this organization. It’s so difficult for programs to find funds for these items that do so much to restore dignity and hope for children, but Alice’s Kids steps up every time.
I discovered Alice’s Kids on Twitter. After doing some research the history and their story struck a chord in me. A long time ago I was a newly-single mother of a one year old. While I recognized how fortunate I was to have a supportive family and a college degree, I spent more than a few years working two jobs and watering down the juice to make it last longer. The joy I felt at my child’s joy the first Christmas that “Santa” brought more than books and puzzles is with me even today. The small acts of bringing joy and relief to children is what I love about Alice’s Kids.
We donated daughters birthday money to this amazing charity which does so much to help so many kids.
This non-proft helps people in ways that are so important. Other agencies do not have the capacity or programs to do what Alice's Kids does! Every story shared by them warms the heart and gives hope!
I support Alice’s Kids because of their compassionate, personalized outreach to young people in the community. While the donation amounts may seem small to some, they are everything to the kids who are helped!
People think unless you give large amounts it’s not significant, or that you must have a huge need to get help. The recipients of Alice’s Kids help would disagree I’m sure. Sometimes the dollar amounts they provide assistance with may seem small to some, but are everything to the kids who are helped with shoes for sports, or fees to an event.
I am counselor in Texas and recently I reached out to Alice's kids with a grant request. I have a student whose family has had a lot of difficulties due to health problems of one of their siblings (who also attends our school). She has been hospitalized several times due to a serious heart condition. She has spent weeks in the hospital and that has led to absences and disruption to the whole family's routine. It has also called financial difficulty because her mother who has had to miss a lot of work to attend to surgeries and appointments on a regular basis.
My student is very supportive of her sister and understanding of the sacrifices the entire family must make. Due to missed school, she has had to retake a couple of classes. At the same time, she is in our school's cosmetology program and has a goal of receiving her license next year when she graduates. In order to complete the program (which they have already paid for) and complete her graduation requirements she needs to take two classes over the summer. Alice's Kids has been amazing it helping to make this happen! I appreciate it so much.
My student is a sweet girl and makes many sacrifices so that her sister can receive the care she needs. I love to see her receive this support so that she can achieve her post-high school goal of being a cosmetologist. She has already worked very hard to get this far in the program. THANK YOU ALICES KIDS!
HI, I have two passions that I act on, kids and vets. I am able to make a difference with vets by donating to Wounded Warriors. I donated sporadically to various kids' causes but couldn't find one that I thought really made a difference. Until I read about Alice's Kids from Patton Oswalt on Twitter. I started following Alice's Kids on Twitter and read the stories of their help, they were so inspirational; they were making a difference, one kid at a time. I wanted to be part of their outreach so I started donating monthly. They are a very lean organization (one full-time employee) but they have such heart. They sent me an email which detailed their help to kids and one particular kid who needed new shoes to get ready for soccer in the fall (and to lose weight). They reported that they sent a gift card and an actress heard of his story and they sent another donation. They also reported that he has lost 9 pounds. It made me tear up. I want to hear the result of these donations, that they work, and I do with Alice's Kids.
I donated because my Husband Dean died of Liver Cancer 3 years ago and my daughter and I are still recovering from his loss. I saw the story of this young man whose Mom has liver Cancer too and it just hit me so hard. I want to take some kind of burden off of his shoulders. I wish him all the love I can. This is just a small way to help. Thank you for the amazing work you do.
I have been searching for a charity that touches individual lives in a personalized way. I strongly believe that Alice's Kids makes a real difference in a meaningful way one person at a time.
I have watch Alice's Kids grow from our local area to now helping children in over 30 states. Serving one child at a time while maintaining that child's confidentiality has been the heart of this organization. Alice's Kids doesn't seek self promotion in their giving but instead the gift goes to the child via their parent, their counselor, their coach etc. An amazing way to bless a child through a third party. Ron has been such an encouragement to what can be done if you start in your own backyard. You don't have to have large sums of money but you do need is the ability to put Action to your Vision. He started small yet just a few years later this organization is now bringing smiles to children all over the United States.
Alice's Kids is simply marvelous, and I’m honored to be a monthly donor. I see it as a direct investment in our future because I believe raising children’s self-esteem is just as important to their success as making sure they have the basics. From quickly getting these kids what they need to letting the parent be the hero, the organization is laser-focused on caring and dignity. Every child should have a chance to pursue his or her dreams.
AK also has virtually no administrative costs, so every time I send money, it’s easy for me to picture exactly how it will help children. Ron gives regular updates on the Facebook page, making it clear just how far-reaching the contributions are. The organization is nothing short of inspiring. AK is what a charity should be.
I reached out to Alice's Kids in December 2019. I had a mom and 2 of my young scholars in a shelter because they were homeless. Mom needed help gifts for the kids. I received the donation and quickly gave it to mom. She was very happy and excited because she was going to surprise the kids. She went shopping and she was even able to buy a little tree for their room. After the Winter Break, I asked the kids how the holidays were and they smiled while explaining every single item they received. Thank you so much Alice Kids for making donations to our needy scholars.
I’ve known Ron and others on the Alice’s Kids board for many years. It’s a unique charity that focuses on the little things that matter so much in the lives of a child. There are many great charities out there that solve lots of problems but this one focuses on eliminating the humiliating aspects of poverty. Ron and his board are effective because they have a focused mission, have amazing word of mouth and do this as a heartfelt calling born of experience. I will always support this charity as long as it operates under its values.
I was a poor kid who had to wear used shoes donated by a neighbor. I never went to camp, never had a birthday party or graduation party. I got one skirt and blouse for the semester and that was it. All those memories remind me that kids from families like mine deserve some joy. If I can provide some of it, I will always be there.
Everyone has a “small moment” story, where one small thing has a profound impact on their life. Alice’s Kids is about making sure the “small moment” stories are positive, uplifting and hopeful. What an awesome way for a relatively small contribution to that a huge impact on showing kids they are worth it and people care.
I support Alice's Kids because they focus on gifts that have a direct and immediate impact on a kid's life, and lets that young person know that they are valued.
I found out about Alice's Kids from Twitter and was moved by the stories of how they helped support kids in small ways. As a teacher, I know that small things mean a lot to kids in need and I was compelled to become a monthly donor. It feels good to know that my small donation is putting a smile on a kid's face somewhere out there and it couldn't have been easier to sign up.
I support this charity as I have relatives that were stigmatized by having to accept help from others when their parents divorced. While they are now older, successful, this event from their youth has left a mark on them. I believe that the dignity the charity provides to their recipients is priceless.
I'm not crying, you're crying! Seriously, every time I read the Alice's Kids newsletter I'm moved to tears. Such a simple, straightforward concept making a major difference in the lives of so many. The possibility of supporting children to feel better, to reach their goals, and to know someone cares is priceless. I love the work Alice's Kids is doing.
I learned about Alice's Kids last year and it really touched me because my mother was also an Alice, and as another Alice's kid who did not have much growing up, I was still taught to give what I could, because there was always someone who needed something more than I did. I love the fact that kids get the help without realizing that a charity is helping them, it is just so kind to the parents and the kids, and these folks are doing everything with practically no overhead, so I know that my monthly donation goes to those who need it. The stories of the people they help are so inspiring, they never fail to bring both a tear to my eye and a smile to my face. From one Alice's kid to another, I will support them forever.
My dad lives in the same retirement community as Ron and asked me to make a donation. I said sure, and set up a monthly recurring donation.
It’s been fun watching them grow from a local non-profit to a countrywide organization serving kids throughout the US.
I support Alice's Kids because I work at a school and see how income inequality affects our children. When students do not have clean clothing, financial access to popular school events or other things that so many of us take for granted, it leads them to feel "less than." When we are able help children with even the simplest of requests, we give them one less thing to worry about in a young life that has probably had too many things to worry about already.
I am a happy donor for Alice’s Kids. Their mission touches my heart. No child should go without basic needs, access to arts and music, and fulfilling their dreams. God bless this organization & all the kids they help!
-Anna
What Alice's Kids does for those who need a little boost is amazing. No request is too small just to make a child smile.
I am happy to support this charity as much as I can!
I donated to Alice’s Kids because they’re a great organization doing highly effective work that ensures all the money goes directly to children and teens in need. They have impacted the lives of so many young people and I’m proud to contribute to this organization.
I was referred to Alice's Kids through our school district. I was impressed that they wanted to extend 2020 graduates a "gift" and a "lift" during this pandemic. Once they sent me the request form, it was easy to complete and they responded quickly and generously with an Amazon gift card of $75 sent directly and promptly to the student I had requested this for, as well as a complimentary popular grad gift of Dr. Seuss' book, "Oh the Places You'll Go." I would highly recommend educators to not hesitate asking for graduation gifts for seniors who are struggling in future years. Many thanks to Ron Fitzsimmons, Executive Director of aliceskids.org.
I applied for a grant for a student through Alice's Kids, and it was easy and timely. My student desperately needed funds to get started in the dorms in college since she is Title X (homeless), and Alice's Kids sent us a digital Target gift card so she could get the things she needed. It was a simple, transparent process!
I am a School Counselor in Alexandria City Public Schools, and Alice's Kids has come through in countless occasions when I've searched for specific supports for a family in need. Most recently, I reached out to Alice's Kids seeking Soccer gear and athletic wear for a 7th grade student of mine. The family has had a particularly challenging few years, both with financial hardship and health matters. My student, like all children, is simply trying to explore her interests and passions, and the funds that this organization provided her (and her mother) will go towards her participation on a soccer team, and in dance classes next year. They are making a big difference in this individual's life and opening doors for her and her family!
I donate monthly to this wonderful organization. Their “business model” provides smaller items/gifts/money to kids in need, and is something I certainly had not thought of in my previous charitable contributions...normally you may think of giving during holidays, etc., but these small gifts to children for everyday life make such a huge difference. These kids become more confident, they are able to work though trauma and other difficult circumstances, and celebrate their achievements. (For example, one thing Alice’s Kids does a lot is pay “senior dues” that schools charge kids in order to participate in the graduation ceremony. Such an important milestone shouldn’t missed because a kid comes from a lower economic background!)
All of this is to say I think Alice’s Kids is a hugely important and fantastic charity. I’m so glad to have found them, and I hope they are able to more and more kids every year.
Alice's Kids does amazing work! I am a School Social Worker and they have helped multiple children at the school where I work. Each time I send in a request for a child in need of an appropriate item, they approve that request with no questions asked and almost always within the same day or by the next day. This allows the child/family to have what that child needs almost immediately. The support that Alice's Kids provides the children and families is invaluable! Further, where resources are often scarce and red tape often makes accessing resources challenging to us as social workers, the ease in which accessing the resource that Alice's Kids offers for us as social workers is wonderful and much appreciated! Thank you to Alice's Kids and all who support this agency!!!
Alice's Kids has been an incredible resource for vulnerable families in Fairfax. As a social worker, I often contact them requesting assistance for our children. Alice's Kids has never denied any of my clients with support and my children appreciate all if their help. I am grateful that we have such a valuable resource in our community. Thank you Alice's kids!
I work for a non-profit organization, CASA. We represent children in the legal system. Alice's Kids has helped several of our children with clothing and other essentials, even including graduation gifts and Christmas gifts. They are extremely easy to work with and are very prompt with their giving! Alice's Kids has been a huge blessing to CASA and the children we serve!
Sometimes the little things in life are the things that boost us to feel like we matter. I love that Alice's Kids help young people to be able to have these encouraging things in their lives. I'm so happy that such an organization exists. Thank you for your work!
Alice's Kids is an excellent organization that helps children in need with the little things that make life more joyful. I taught for a few years in a low income school and so often kids missed out of things because of a small fee their parents couldn't pay or because they could not access proper materials. Through anonymous means like gift cards, Alice's Kids makes sure children get what they need without being made to feel shame or embarrassment. The organization also runs a twitter account that shares their latest contributions so it's clear where the money is going. I've always believed deeply that young people should not miss out on life's pleasures due to the circumstances on their parents and the work that Alice's Kids does warms my heart.
Alice's Kids is an amazing organization. They are quick to respond to requests. The support they offer is so incredibly valuable and it supports the family's self-determination (i.e., providing a gift card so the kids can pick out the shoes they like/would choose instead of just sending them a pair of shoes). Thank you so much for your support!
I am a Social Worker for Fairfax county Department of social services. Saying thank you is simply not enough for what Alice's Kids have done for my families i work with. Whether it was special assistance with food during the COVID pandemic, equipment for sports activities, assist with the purchase of a laptop, as well as clothing and beds. Your assistance has truly helped to ease anxieties, and provide hope for the families, while building self-esteem and confidence in the children. I appreciate all you do.
Program was easy to access. Communication with agency staff was reciprocated in a timely fashion. Families who were identified and met criteria were awarded support.
It was a pleasure to work with this agency. Thank you
I am a social worker for Chicago Public Schools, working in a high school on the West Side of Chicago. My students are insightful, talented, and driven, but many of the families in my school community work hard to make ends meet, and students often go with the "extras" that other teenagers simply expect. Alice's Kids has helped me to help students purchase prom tickets, senior class photos, new outfits for important occasions, and apparel needed to start new jobs! Students are often used to hearing adults tell them "I'm so sorry, but I cannot help you with this or that" and Alice's Kids has enabled me to say "Yes! We can figure this out together!" Beyond the material support that Alice's Kids gifts provide, the emotional support that it lends, when you can say "yes" when you actually can help with something, is what makes the work that Alice's Kids does so impactful. I cannot share my appreciation enough for the organization and their philosophy of giving.
We had a senior that was literally was a half a credit from graduating. Alice's kids stepped up and paid for the on-line class. Problem solved. One more graduate that could have been statistic.
I have had the great pleasure to have Alice's Kids as a resource for my students. I am the Case Manager for the homeless program with Prince George's County Public Schools. We have requested assistance with necessities such as shoes or dancewear for students. As well as an outfit for a sixth-grade promotion. They have always fulfilled our request. The process for requesting support is very easy as well. I love Alice's Kids.

I am a school social worker that services nine charter schools in our county, where we have many needy children. Alice's Kids helped me to make this Christmas a most special one for two of my students! One student is a teen in foster care since toddlerhood, who was in an abusive foster care situation and had to be removed. He needed that ability to log into remote learning and online homework but did not have the technology. Alice's Kids helped with a gift card so that we could obtain a tablet for the student and it changed his academics and his outlook on life. He was able to see that people DO CARE! My other student is a female that was put out of her mother's home with no belongings and was in an emergency shelter with whatever clothes that were donated. This 17 year old was blessed with a gift card from Alice's Kids and we were able to shop online and obtain some decent clothes for her! She was given her dignity back due to the blessing from Alice's Kids! Both students wrote heartfelt letters of thanks to Alice's Kids! Thank you Alice's Kids, for all you do to make lives better!
Alice's Kids is s a unique spin on the idea of microlending. Instead of lending to entrepreneurs, Alice's Kids grants are investments in childhood. And instead of paying back a loan, Kids pay society back through their growth and own unique contributions.
After researching many ways to give back, Alice's Kids is the perfect place to donate my time and money. Their overhead is extremely low. The process for requesting support for a child is friction-free. And the potential results are limitless.
If Alice's Kids were a business instead of a nonprofit, its low expenses, minimal barriers for customers and unlimited potential ROI, would make you want to invest in it.
Take the time to learn more about Alice's Kids and you will find no better home for your philanthropy.
I donate monthly to Alice's Kids because they fill an immediate, crucial need that changes a child's life for the better. And they do this for many children everyday, no questions, judgements or critiques. i love the directness and simplicity of it. AK is an example of how we can all make a difference in our small corner of the world.
I have seen the direct impact of Alice’s Kids and I am a donor. When I coached Girls on the Run through a local non-profit, several of the girls I coached did not have suitable sneakers/running shoes. They were wearing ballet flats or sandals to training. The non-profit case manager requested shoes through Alice’s Kids, who provided gift cards to a local shoe store. We took the girls to buy appropriate shoes for training, the race, and to play in everyday. It made a huge different to these girls and they felt like someone cared. I love Alice’s Kids and donate to them regularly. This organization instills a sense of confidence and dignity while meeting an immediate need.
I had been looking for a non profit to make monthly donations to, when I came across Alice’s Kids.
I love that they consider providing, what most would be considered small unnecessary things, to children. Things like art supplies, sports supplies, and things of that nature go a long way in making children feel a sense of normalcy.
I highly recommend following them on social media, you’ll get your dose of heart warming content. Please consider donating!
So proud to be a monthly donor to this charity. They are directly helping children who would likely not get assistance elsewhere, along with the teachers and mentors who work with these children.
I heard about Alice's Kids through Twitter a couple months back and have been following their work since. Their organization hits near and dear to my heart and I'm happy to see an organization doing good without asking for the world to pat them on the back. Keep up the good work all!
It’s the little things. It’s getting a kid who struggles with sensory issues swimming lessons. Paying a school fee. Buying a computer. Helping kids learn, feel loved, valued, and appreciated. It’s the little things that change the world, and that’s what Alice’s Kids is doing. These little things have an enormous impact on our world...and I’m on-board. I work with kids who need the little things: snow pants for sledding, a butterfly kit, computers for remote learning. Thanks for every little thing you do!
I am a very recent donor to this organization, but I am so impressed with what Alice's Kids does, and I am particularly impressed by the fact that the kids they serve never know that they are receiving charity.
When you can't afford to buy a yearbook, or new shoes, or go to the prom, or take a specialized course, or get supplies to properly pursue extracurricular interests, it makes you feel "less than." I recall that feeling viscerally, even though it was long ago. The little things that Alice's Kids provide are little triumphs that can change how kids in need see themselves.
And as if their great work was not enough, after I donated for the first time, Ron Fitzsimmons -- the Executive Director of Alice's Kids -- wrote me a personal email, thanking me for my donation... not a form letter, not one of those nonprofit Mad Libs. We had a lovely exchange. That made me even more impressed by their personal investment and commitment.
You may also like to know that since my donation, I have not been inundated by emails from them, as I am with so many other charities and nonprofits.
I'm so glad that I stumbled upon this organization, and they can count on my support as long as I am able to give.
I've donated in the past to this wonderful organization. I cannot express the hope it gives me knowing that they're meeting the needs of children in need on an individualized basis. Don't hesitate to support this incredible organization. If you need a good people-are-kind stories, follow them on social media
I recently learned about Alice’s Kids and am so amazed at the help they provide when it is most needed. They help kids get things that many of us take for granted...which is why the greatest needs are often easily overlooked. Thanks to Alice’s Kids, that’s not an issue anymore.
Having something like this when I was growing up would have helped so much, now I can donate to help other kids realize their full potential
Reading about the “small” ways this charity makes a big difference is the best part of my day. Thank you Alice’s kids for caring about kids.
We donate to Alice’s Kids every month because they give to kids in need while preserving the recipients’ dignity. Love reading their posts about how they’ve helped deserving kids.
I've recently started following and supporting their work and I am truly impressed with the direct and positive impact they have on so many lives. Such a great group!
Alice’s Kids get right to the heart of giving to children in ways that help children with those things that so many of our kids can take for granted. A pair of shoes so they can run track, clothes for a parents funeral, books to read, a backpack with school supplies. It is so well run and a joy to give to. God bless you!
I donate monthly to this non-profit. It helps kids directly with items and experiences that many kids take for granted, allowing them some self esteem and just a little help. The kids ask for the smallest things (socks, books, school fees, etc)- small things that allow their hobby, or allow them to pursue a hobby or dream they couldn’t have without some financial help. It goes directly to the kids need- which I love.
A little goes a long way. I love the idea of small, directed donations that have the possibility of making a huge difference in a child's life.
I'm so impressed with what this organization does. It truly makes a difference in the lives of all the people it serves.
I donate monthly to this wonderful organization that helps kids with small things that make a huge difference in their lives. It might be new clothing, books, money for an instrument or a class. It is to help kids going through rough times have "normal" things that help them fit in with peers or to help their self-esteem. A little help goes a long way.
I love Alice’s Kids because it maximizes the impact of small donor amounts. I know the $25 I donate will buy that $25 pair of sneakers a kid desperately needs. No dilution! No diversion! What I love the very most is the direct impact of Alice’s Kids on kids’ SELF-ESTEEM & confidence. That to me is PRICELESS. Keep up the good work!
It is my observation that smaller operations, such as this one, are able to supply assistance faster.
This amazing organization, gives where there is no help, every dollar goes to hope. Hope for a kid that other wise goes with out. Every time they share how they help it’s an instant smile for me. The smile per dollar ratio is off the charts, wish my stocks did the same. Please give to this amazing organization.
We all thank you so much !!
Greg
I grew up very poor and could've only dreamed about a non-profit like Alice's Kids. This organization truly understands how expensive it is to be poor. It's climb that often feels impossible but Alice's Kids provides hope.
Alice's Kids is a great organization providing for children in poverty. The method of delivery of assistance allows children and parents to maintain dignity.
Alice’s kid’s does the important work of acknowledging self-esteem needs when one is affected by poverty. Finding and unlocking the small things that give kids confidence is so crucial even in the midst of bigger hardshipS.
I donated to Alice’s Kids a week ago. Will do so again. I love giving to charities that give everything back. No 85% overhead. And, I love that they do little things for kids, which can make all the difference in a child’s life.
As a care manager/skills trainer in the children's mental health field I continue to be amazed at the rapid, loving, and intensely needed love and mercy provided by Alice's Kids ! They will always be on my list of donations year after year !
I've worked in a number of nonprofits focused on children's needs. They do "big" things and cover the most basic needs-- healthcare, safety, hunger, and so on. So many times when I interacted with the kids, I saw their smaller needs as well- a new pair of shoes like the other kids have, a chance to take a class (that would open up a whole new world for them!), or just a new toy or books to read. I love that Alice's Kids does such a wonderful of covering these needs. It's unique and very needed!
I donated to this nonprofit after following them on Twitter (thanks to Patton Oswalt) and noticing how happy their posts made me feel. I love that this nonprofit helps children feel good about themselves.
This is such an important cause that is often forgotten - the very small injustices and traumas of poverty that loom large in childrens' minds.
Alice's Kids helped two young boys that I work with to buy a laptop so that they can do their remote classwork on something other than an old smartphone. The process of applying for the money was easy, helpful, and compassionate each step of the way. Thank you Alice's Kids!!
I am a pediatric case manager and I work with a boy who suffered a brain injury. His family works as hard as they can to provide everything, but with the help of Alice's Kids I am able to provide them support to get clothing and shoes for two growing boys.
I am a pediatric case manager and I work with a boy who recently suffered a brain injury. His father lost his job due to COVID during the same month that his son suffered his brain injury. This family's world was turned upside down and unfortunately the father has struggled to get a new job since he has had to go back and forth to the hospital for his son's medical needs. Due to the loss of his job and having to care for four other children, the father was unable to provide some of the safety needs for his son despite his hard work. Alice's Kids helped me provide this amazing child with a new twin bed frame, mattress, and guard rails so he can sleep safely.
These families and I are so thankful for Alice's Kids incredible support!
We are very pleased to find an organization that helps kids all over the nation with the little but necessary essentials that most of us take for granted like athletic shoes, books, eye glasses, and other help with much needed expenses so that kids can thrive. No child should be without basic needs for their health, school, or activities. I am grateful to our son, who recommended Alice’s Kids as recently we have donated to food banks, seniors organizations such a Meals on Wheels and and our local Institute for Human Services which is a great outreach program for the homeless during this pandemic, but we’ve never come across an organization for children that has touched our hearts as Alice’s Kids. Great work on behalf of children!
I just think this is a great way of spreading kindness. I'm unable to do much directly to help folks physically due to mobility issues, so I'm glad I can help Alice's Kids with donations. I like reading the updates on how they helped individuals in all kinds of situations.
I support Alice's Kids because of the simple & beautiful mission - helping out with the small needs of children.
I didn't get my first pair of jeans until middle school. We just couldn't afford them. My shorts always looked worn out & and stained from typical kid activities. All I wanted was to blend in by wearing jeans like everyone else.
I hope this donation alleviates a similar stress point for another.
With love. Anne
Honestly, Alice's Kids is one of a kind! Alice's Kids has been able to brighten the smiles of so many of my students! From Uniform pieces to senior dues being paid to miscellaneous things that may seem unimportant to some, my students lives have been changed forever! It is so hard to come across monetary donations in such short notices but through Alice's Kids barriers that hinder students from being successful academically, behaviorally and in attendance are dismantled. Things that have once made students feel isolated and different from their peers have helped them become more socially active and has expanded their support and motivation to excel.
Alice's Kids serves the most needy and vulnerable children. It is an pleasure to watch how this organisation has grown each year and positively impacted the lives of so many children. Thank you Ron, and your team for making a difference every day in the trajectory of the children that you assist.
Though I've never had to use Alice's Kids services, I understand their importance and have donated on several occasions. The work they do is invaluable.
I am a Care Coordinator for children and families based in Southern Maryland. One of my duties is linking my clients to a variety of resources in the community. My clients' needs have changed due to the COVID-19 crisis and many of the resources I would typically be able to access for them are no longer available due to social distancing and financial hardships. I reached out to Alice's Kids for two different funding requests. One of my requests was to help pay for a client's laptop so that she can continue her video appointments with mental health professionals and school personnel, keep in touch with friends, complete homework, and use for creating digital artwork. The second request was to help pay for a variety of art supplies for a client that is a gifted artist in a family of ten, and who no longer has access to most of the recreational programs he was hoping to join. I received the approval for both requests within a week's time and I am overjoyed with the opportunity to provide these items for my clients to help get them through this difficult time. Thank you Alice's Kids for the services you provide!
Alice’s Kids makes an enormous impact in the lives of many children and families. The help this organization offers not only fills a need within a child’s life, but also provides happiness, hope and self-assurance. Because of this organization, a child is able to walk with pride and confidence without fear of being made fun of for their appearance. Thank you so much Alice’s Kids; because of your organization, the children in the communities we serve will always have their needs met!
Alice's Kids is a wonderful charity that does great things for students. They provide key items that others might not consider (i.e., glasses, computer fees, senior dues, graduation gifts, etc.) that means so much to students and their families. They are doing an AWESOME job of making seniors lives a little less stressful at a time when they are missing out on enjoying all of the fun end of the year activities that they have worked so hard for over the past 12 or 13 (if Kindergarten) years; cancelled due to the pandemic.
The work Alice's Kids does is an inspiration. As a frequent donor, I check back frequently to see how they've helped kids in my community and those around the nation.
I am intensely proud to be a friend of this organization, even in a small way. The work they do changes lives, one small step at a time.
As a professional who has worked with children in need for years, the DIGNITY that this organization provides with it's anonymity in giving is something these kids rarely get to experience.
I have donated several times to Alice's Kids -- I think their mission is so important. With small gestures, they help kids in need retain dignity and self-worth in the face of tough odds. Every story they post about the kids they've helped touches my heart.
Alice's Kids helps children compassionately, by providing a gift card to a parent to take their child shopping for a needed pair of cleats for baseball or a performance outfit for band. The parent gets to be the hero. And this makes all the difference to the family as a whole.
Wonderful organization!
They provide support directly to those in need in a respectful and caring manner.
The direct impact that Alice's Kids makes is like no other. They provide non-judgemental support & encouragement for youth who have had a hard break. Love that their gifts are about doing, growing, celebrating.
I am a teacher in Eastern Oregon in an economically depressed town, so needs abound, but I have one little student who really needed some individual and special attention. Since COVID-19 disrupted our school year, I felt that something had to be done, especially after making a home delivery and seeing the conditions that are this student's home. I initially applied for a grant through the Union and though some of what I was requesting was coverable under their grant, some things weren't, like the art supplies this little one needs to express feelings and deal with emotions. There's no room for these types of things in the family budget, but thanks to Alice's Kids, this sweet little soul can now have the tools needed to express feelings and creativity that otherwise wouldn't, and haven't, been there. Taking care of a child's emotions and providing that child with an outlet for feelings is an investment in the future for everyone. This organization is a blessing to teachers and students and families! Thank you to Alice's Kids and Mr. Fitzsimmons a million thank yous for the quick and generous response, even adapting to the current COVID-19 situation!
Good day to all, I am a former Parent Liaison and current Support Specialist a George Washington Middle School in the City of Alexandria, Virginia; as a Parent Liaison I learned about Alice's Kids and all the help they give to the community, during the time I worked as Parent Liaison Alice's Kids was a great resource for me to assist families with needs they have like cloth, eye glasses, field trips cost coverage, currently I as Support Specialist I am still connecting families with community resources and Alice's Kids is the first organization I run to assistance due to they response time and so quick and easier to get help for the families, I am so happy that I learned about this non-profit organization that has been a great help and support to our familiez.
Alice's Kids is a fantastic organization who steps up to meet the unique needs of kids in our community. In a time when everything is unpredictable, Alice's Kids holds true to their mission to help all children access resources to help them feel that they fit in. Whether soccer cleats, graduation fees, or prom dresses, kids are able to participate in school related events and activities while making lasting memories with their friends. Thank you to Alice's Kids for being a generous and dependable supporter of children!
In this uncertain times we all are living, many families are unable to meet all of their children's needs. I requested assistance for a student in need of glasses. Alice's kids approved assistance within 24 hours. Thanks for the help to continue providing for our children.

As a school social worker in Prince William County Public Schools, Virginia (Beville Middle School), I contacted Alice's Kids to request laptop support for two students that were forced to use their parent's cell phone to access online classes. Within one hour of sending my request for support, sponsorship for an Amazon gift card to purchase a brand new laptop/tablet for the students, was sent to my inbox. Alice's kids is a wonderful organization; their vision for meeting the immediate needs of students and their families is paramount and most appreciated for reaching those within reach!
Serving 2 Impact,
Be Blessed n Be a Blessing...

Alice's Kids is a tremendous resource and support for families in need. As an educator, they are willing to help students who need help picking up the little things that may become burdensome for a family. I feel fortunate to have Alice's Kids in our community and as a partner I can work with.
Graduation caps and gowns were purchased for 3 high school students by Alice's Kids donations. These high school students who are facing financial hardship currently were able to experience this milestone with less stress of financial worry due to the kind donation of this organization. This is a great resource for at-risk youth and we are grateful for the organization!
Alice's Kids is an amazing organization. They have always responded quickly to requests for assistance needed. They have assisted so many of the students we serve to get caps and gowns for graduation during this incredibly difficult time of Covid-19.
Because of Alice's Kids, 4 students from 1st grade to high school received books at their reading level to help them with literacy. The family are refugees from Syria who expressed they would like to improve their ability to communicate in English, and would like more books at home to practice reading. In a short time, Alice's Kids responded and sent beautiful new books for them to enjoy from home! As someone working for a nonprofit, I am so thankful for hardworking, responsive partnerships like Alice's Kids. Especially during quarantine, the support is even more valuable!
I recently found out about Alice's Kids and let me tell you they are heavenly to work with, extremely polite and have gone above and beyond for the students I currently work with. They were able to provide funding in less than 2 hours. That's amazing service if you ask me!! Thank you again Alice's Kids, job well done!!
We are so glad to have Alice’s Kids for our students. Our students are not alone, especially in these difficult times. Alice’s kids is always there to support them and supplies all their need. we so proud to have you guys!
I am a Community School Coordinator, a part of what I do is help students, families and community members. Alice’s Kids assisted me with linking students with resources that we often struggle to obtain. Always thinking about the direct impact of the gift the would give someone, it challenged me to think of needs beyond essentials at times. Thank you for everything you have done to help our community in Riverdale, MD.
Working with Social Services, Alice's Kids is a godsend to our neighbors in need!
Countless families down on their luck with children who deserve more than what they have oftentimes burst into tears when Alice's Kids grant's their requests.
The simple "to the point" process really helps when dealing with more prideful families who don't want to feel judged or pitied. I tell anyone who'll listen about the loving work they do, they're AMAZING!!!
I am a social worker in Anne Arundel County Schools in Maryland. I have reached out to Alice's kids on several different occasions on behalf of my high school students. Mr. Fitzsimmons and his staff have been so lovely to work with and have granted all of my requests from driving school fees, to prom tickets, cap and gown fees, and night school and summer school fees. This organization has helped many of of my low income students who needed a little help. I can't thank them enough and appreciate all they do to support young people who are in really challenging circumstances no fault of their own. Thank you , thank you !!!!
My job is to ensure that students and families have access to community resources and to ensure that their basic needs are being met. A large number of students and families I work with are homeless. While I am able to connect families to a variety of resources, I have had families come to me worried about not being able to buy birthday gifts for their kids and I unfortunately wasn't able to find an organization to help with this-- that is until I heard about Alice's Kids.
What I love most about Alice's Kids is not just the fact that they are generous, but the fact that they are discreet. Gift cards are sent directly to the parent and children do not need to know that their parent were sent a gift card. They don't want to take the shine away from parents-- this is what puts them above other non-profits.
Alice’s Kids has helped me provide a gift for 3 of our seniors who are facing personal challenges on top of the current pandemic. They provided wonderful support & a speedy response to my request. I am grateful for this opportunity, & my students were extremely happy & grateful as well. THANK YOU!
Requesting through Alice's Kids has been a wonderful experience in helping to get resources for my families. I have made several requests through Alice's Kids for families that are in severe need, from mothers who are struggling to make ends meet on their own to dad's that have lost their wives. Alice's Kids has helped change many families I work with lives. They have supported with youth sports, equipment for youth sports, electronic equipment and therapy support through activities. I am so thankful to have Alice's Kids support.
I work for a non-profit providing student services in Memphis. We are able to find resources for big things like food, housing, etc. There are so many othe things that our students need that we just don't have the resources to provide. Alice's Kids has been a life saver. I have used them for so many things throught the years, and they have never let me down. I have been able to provide a new jacket for a young man that only had an old, raggedy jacket. I was able to get a new pair of shoes for a young man that was being made fun of. I have been able to help families celebrate big accomplishments thanks to Alice's Kids. The service that they provide is so needed and we can't find this kind of help anywere else.
I've been donating to Alice's Kids since 2011 and started volunteering to help with outreach last year. I believe in this charity and what it does for children in need and helping to build and enhance their self esteem. The charity provides this in a selfless manner so that the hero isn't the charity providing for children in need but their parent or someone in a position of importance (e.g. teacher or social worker). It has done great things over the years in the local area and now nationally and will only grow to do more for children in need across the country.
I have been a volunteer for almost 2yrds and what I love about Alice's Kids is they are so willing to be there for kids who just need either basic necessities or life affecting items to fill their everyday needs. And they respond. It simple, Alice's Kids responds - because these are kids! I feel blessed to be a part of this organization.
I learned about Alice's Kids while interning with my local school system. When I graduated and started with my first Social Work job, I began making referrals for families. I am so impressed with Alice's Kids, they have been able to assist so many of my students and families with things that no other agency could help with. They helped me with a gift card to AMC for a student whose sister is on the Autism Spectrum, she was having difficulty sleeping and kept the entire family up. For him and his mother to be able to enjoy a movie and be able to bond, without having to worry about the cost, was just incredible. They also helped me with bed sheets and pillows for a set of sisters who were homeless, their family had finally moved into their own apartment and we were able to surprise them with beautiful sheets, comforters and pillows.
Thank you for all that you do!
I am a social worker with District of Columbia. I work with at-risk youth, homeless families, and families affected by mental illnesses. I've first learned about Alice in 2018 and since then, they have provided for more than a dozen of youth and families that I have worked with. It truly warms my heart to see that there is such care and genuine concern to ensure our youth are given the tools to succeed. I will always advocate for the integrity, exceptional customer service, and care that comes with Alice.
I am an elementary school counselor in Portland, Oregon. Alice's Kids have been an amazing resource for several students this year. They made it possible for a kindergartner to have a cozy bed in his mom's first independent apartment. They granted funds for a 5th grader to participate in an overnight class field trip. They provided warm pajamas, blankets, and lanterns for brothers whose home was without electricity. And recently they provided a 5th grader with an elementary school graduation celebration. There is no other foundation that works as quickly or with as much love and generosity as Alice's Kids. Please support their work in any way you can.
Alice's Kids does such wonderful work with children. Their donations are thoughtful, supportive and practical. The assistance Alice's Kids provides helps children to fit in, participate in events along with their peers, and/or enjoy basic necessities many of us take for granted (a mattress to sleep on, athletic shoes for PE class, a coat to keep warm). Additionally, the referral process utilized by Alice's Kids is simple and streamlined and their response time to requests is very quick. I am very grateful for the help Alice's Kids has provided for students at my school.
As a social worker there have always been gaps in needs for families; Those things you just can't figure out how to fund or provide. Alice's Kids fills those gaps for families for the things that can sometimes matter the most. I've been able to provide school clothes for a student who was too embarrassed to come to school in dirty clothes. I've been able to provide work uniforms for a student who really wanted to work, but then couldn't afford the many things she needed for her uniform. These things have impacted students in positive ways to help them feel confident and reach goals that matter to their future. Thank you Alice's Kids! You are the missing link!
I am sharing from Ridgeview High School on the West Coast, in Magalia, CA. I am the high school counselor for our school. After our whole school burnt down in the Campfire in November, 2018, we temporarily relocated to a Boys & Girls Club site in Chico. We had approximately 95 students, most of whom had lost housing along many of our staff. Each day was a challenge as we transported students in from the neighboring towns families spread out to, in temporary housing. We heard of Alice's Kids and through a grant, they provided, our students got an amazing boost in morale with funding for an educational field trip. We so appreciate what you do for children!!
Alice's Kids has always provided amazing support for our students and families, but the organization is particularly filling many buckets right now by providing free books for students in quarantine and also special graduation gifts for seniors with an unusual ending to their high school career. We remain so grateful to be able to provide these gifts to our students in need during especially challenging times. Thank you, Alice's Kids!
I am a school social worker in Pennsylvania and I have been very impressed by this amazing organization. I started using this charity after the quarantine started as I was very worried about how the families I work with would cope with this unprecedented situation. I could not believe how quickly they approved helping my families and that I was able to share the gift cards with them without having to worry about violating social distancing. I felt comfortable using Alice's Kids because of an email I received from the National Association of Social Workers that said they were working together. If it were not for this communication, I would not have been aware of this charity. When I was confused about something, I had no problem reaching staff through email and by phone. Everyone has been respectful, prompt, and friendly.
Alice’s Kids fills a need that others don’t consider, the “little” things. But those little things are often what matters most to children. These folks have the right idea!
This organization has been incredibly responsive and supportive to our students in need. This national organization has been more responsive and easier to work with than local agencies. I appreciate the support and service they provide to students in need. I appreciate the unique nature of their support, as oftentimes student in need are only offered basics like food and clothing.
I've worked in Title 1 schools in Fairfax County, Virginia for 20 years and getting unique or specific resources for children is always difficult. Things, like a child needing a coat after all the coats from the coat drive have been distributed; a child breaking or losing his glasses and not being able to get a new pair for the next 6 months, when insurance will cover them; an excellent little league athlete not being able to afford the registration or uniform fee; a girl finding a beautiful used prom dress but not being able to afford shoes to wear with it. There is no need too big or too small that Alice's Kids won't cover. Anytime I've had a situation where every other resource option was exhausted, I knew Alice's kids would come through. As a person that works closely with parents, I can attest that one of the greatest attributes of this organization is the donation is done in a manner that allows the parent, child or family to retain their dignity. In essence the parent or guardian is "paying" for the item without the child ever being the wiser for it. Of course receiving the needed resource is joyous for the child and family, but being able to receive it without it seeming as charity is priceless!!! I have worked with Alice's Kids since they were a small local organization. Nothing can be better than witnessing it grow and spread their good work throughout the country. Without a question, it is a great nonprofit.
I donate monthly to Alice's Kids because I can see exactly how it's being used. The executives post stories of the children they've helped every day, and you can even see the thank you notes they receive on their website. It's clearly more than just buying shoes or prom tickets - it's building esteem among kids who need it most.
I love this charity and what they do! They serve young kids directly...unlike any other charity I've worked with.
I love this organization - I work on a mobile medical / mental health clinic and we see kids in all kinds of situations. They take applications from us without a lot of bureacratic fuss and help kids in the most amazing and unique ways - outside the box! making it possible to meet unusual needs that really make a difference in these kids lives. I was able to get a decent pair of size 12 shoes for a young female refugee who could never find her size in the donation places and has severe feet and knee issues for a young person. Her family is still in Haiti and cannot help so this organization stepped up and gave her the card to order special shoes on line. I cannot find that kind of help anywhere. That is just one of the many kids we have referred there!
They have been incredibly supportive of the students we work with, and we truly appreciate their responsiveness, flexibility, and compassion for all children. Thank you Alice's Kids!
Alice's Kids is a true blessing to the students and families that we serve! I have had the honor of partnering with Alice's Kids countless times over the last 3 years during my tenure at Communities In Schools of Memphis. Submitting a referral is so simple and there are never any strings attached. Our students receive the support they need and Ron and his team ensure that we are up to date on any changes with the referral process.
I work for the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education as a school counselor/liaison for our students who are experiencing homelessness. I have sent requests to Alice's Kids for work clothes, bedding for students who are staying with friends due to financial hardship or conflict, tents, clothes, basketball shoes, and many more requests.
The response is always the same from Alice's Kids, yes we can help! Thank you Alice's Kids for making a difference for many students. You are appreciated!

I'm a school social worker in the state of Missouri. I became aware of Alice's Kids about a year ago and their generosity never ceases to amaze me! They truly do what it takes to make sure kids have what they need. They are the only agency that I have worked with that gives you an immediate response to your request- usually within a couple of hours. Thanks to Alice's Kids, I have been able to assist homeless students and families with clothing and most recently one of my students with a gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods so that they could purchase a pair of track shoes in order to be able to participate in track and field. I'm so grateful for the Alice's Kids and so thankful for all of the donors of Alice's Kids. They are truly impacting the lives of many children throughout the country with their ongoing kindness and support.
Ron Fitzsimmons and his wonderful team at Alice's Kids have been a tremendous support to Space of Her Own's vulnerable girls and families. They have enabled struggling mothers to treat their daughters to items like new and fashionable clothes, shoes, and winter coats which have enabled girls to actively participate in our community and with pride. The books that Alice's Kids has provided have helped SOHO girls and their siblings to stave off boredom and entertain themselves as they hunker down at home during this pandemic. Alice's Kids is an extraordinary organization!
From the moment I heard about the mission of Alice’s Kids, I knew I had to be part of it. As a gift card administrator, I am able to brighten a child’s day and hopefully make them feel better about themselves. It’s shocking to hear some of the stories that cross Ron Fitzsimmon’s desk, the level of disparity in our community and across the country, and to then hear how impactful these small acts of kindness are to the child and their parents. Although my schedule is very full, I make the time to volunteer for Alice’s Kids. A few hours per week of my time is all it takes to make a difference in the life of a child. I am honored to be part of this truly unique and wonderful organization.
Alice's Kids is a simple charity filling a niche need. Professionals who work with children electronically submit a form to request a needed item and it is fulfilled electronically. Minimal data is collected to illustrate demographics and geography, but otherwise the child remains anonymous. The parent or guardian is able to provide the item to the child and the child is never made aware it has received charity. Every effort is made to preserve the child's dignity.
Alice's Kids has been essential in providing countless items to my at-risk students in Brooklyn! Wouldn't know what I do without them! Sometimes the school budget doesn't really cover what the students truly need!

Our organization serves kids in foster care. Many times the children are taken from their homes with none of their belongings. Alice's kid allow us to quickly get items that they need as well as items that make them feel more "normal". The children we serve are truly blessed by Alice's Kids
I am a school social worker at a Title 1 elementary school, and I depend on Alice's Kids to support our students with everything from field trips to birthday gifts to sports team registrations. Our students' lives have been enriched because of Alice's Kids.
I started out as a donor and later joined the Outreach Committee. Community organization leaders are impressed by the mission of, and are grateful for, the targeted support that Alice's Kids provides for their school-age clients. While these organizations assist with food & housing insecurity for families, AK compliments their work in small yet very significant ways by providing something special for the individual child. The clothing, sport equipment, art & music supplies, club dues, school fees and field trips (by no means an exhaustive list) that AK pays for go a long way in making a child feel secure. The work AK does is blessing.
Alice's Kids is a focused charity bringing a little joy into kid's lives at times of critical need. My wife and I are proud of the work they do and thrilled to support them anyway we can.
I am honored to be able to serve on the Board for this very unique organization. Alice’s Kids helps kids in many ways. From providing shoes for a child in need, to providing funding for a child to participate in prosocial activities.
I work as a Social Worker for Fairfax County. I had a client who witnessed extensive domestic violence, suffered separation from his mother at a young age and was the victim of bullying. All these traumatic events were negatively impacting his behavior at school and in the community. He was on an downhill spiral until he identified a pro-social activity he wanted to participate in; Muay Thai. Alice’s Kids was able to assist in paying for the classes and he is now connected with a network of positive influences. He is spending a great amount of his time at the Muay Thai gym learning new skills and connecting with positive adults. Alice’s Kids helped him not only improve his self esteem but also to have something positive to look forward to on a daily basis, and for his future.
For this reason and many others, I support Alice’s Kids and its mission.
The way I heard about Alice’s kids was through my job, where Alice’s kids has assisted several of our families with financial assistance, whether its for clothing, food, or shoes; and in return they do not ask for the name of the child or parent/caregiver; I like the concept of the organization, and believe In the organization’s mission.
After seeing what the organization has provided our families with, I became interested in helping out by becoming a volunteer. I became a volunteer about 6 months ago, and every time I buy and send a gift card to a family, it brings joy to me, knowing that I am able to help a family in need, and make a child’s wish come true. That in return can make a child feel confident, and know that they have a support system that cares for their well being. I am to proud to be a volunteer with Alice’s kids!
I started out as a donor to Alice's Kids and was so impressed that I am now volunteering with them to help track the impact they are making. It is truly amazing how a little help can make a huge difference for someone who is struggling financially. What breaks my heart the most is the requests for the most basic items - a clean set of clothes, prom tickets, a dinner out, sports equipment - things that most of us take for granted. I am honored to be both a donor and volunteer for this organization which helps kids with items to lighten their burden and lift their self esteem.
I am Lead Site Coordinator for Communities In School in Tulsa Oklahoma. Alice's Kids support my students and families since 2017 . I believe in this organization, they are amazing and very professional. The support that Alice's provide to all Site Coordinators are essential for our daily work. Thank you for your hard work!
I first spotted Alice's Kids on Facebook- and was quickly hooked. Each story I read was SO powerful - and many had me reaching for a tissue as I learned about the challenges these children face, the legacy of Alice - and the extraordinary impact of Alice's Kids. As I spent my days caring for my own young children, I felt a persistent draw to this remarkable group. I learned more about Alice's Kids' distinctive approach to giving, focus on building self esteem of children and families and agility in providing resources. Since January 2019, I've volunteered as a member of Alice's Kids' Outreach Committee focusing on North Texas. I'm so grateful to play a small part in an organization that does such tremendous good.
I became a volunteer with Alice's Kids about 2 years ago, and with every gift card I buy and send along to families, I feel a connection to a child. I imagine reaching out my hand to
reassure that individual that her life matters, that he is not alone. Each one can be a peer on equal terms with others. One child can go on the field trip with the rest of his class; another can buy the soccer gear, run on the field alongside her teammates; another can see the math problems on the board and raise a hand to offer the solution. I imagine finally a child's new confidence, joy at receiving one simple thing wished for.
I read about Alice's Kids in the Washington Post a few years ago and began following and occasionally donating to them. A few months ago, I saw a post from them asking for more volunteers to help run their program. Since I am a busy mom of 4 kids and a husband that travels often for work, the help from home aspect of the volunteer role appealed to me, so I applied. The concept of this organization is so simple and so meaningful - it allows dignity to remain in tact when dispersing gift cards for whatever resources will help a family's life be easier, better or more joyful. I've fulfilled gift cards for the bare basics such as food and clothing needed, and also fulfilled a gift card for a random item (a hand puppet) that went to an autistic child whose family could not afford one, but knew that it would make instructions and learning easier for them. The appeals for requests are heartbreaking, so it warms my heart to get an approval for an item to be sent. I love being involved in helping families out. Alice's Kids is an amazing, wonderful organization and I am honored to be a part of it.
I’ve been an admirer of Alice’s Kids for some time mainly because it is an organization that focuses on kids and helping them fit in. A small gift card can make all the difference in the world when it comes to new shoes, prom clothes, or being able to purchase a yearbook. I recently signed on as a volunteer to help provide reading materials for kids during the Covid school closures. It was so rewarding to hear back from those who received the books of their choice. A small investment that went a long way!
I read about Alice’s Kids in a neighborhood blog when I was looking for an organization to donate to in memory of a dear friend. I totally embraced the Alice’s Kids mission and dug a little deeper to find out more about it. When I met with founder Ron Fitzsimmons and heard that Alice's Kids was looking for volunteers to help find more children to support, I was quickly on board. What may be regarded as small in terms of dollars can make a huge difference in a child's life. We know this from the many (unsolicited) responses we get back from those Alice's Kids has helped. Their stories are heart breaking, but also inspiring. I am so proud to be a volunteer with Alice's Kids.
I am honored to be a donor and volunteer with this great organization. Ron and Laura are making the world a better place for children all over this country. Alice's Kids is a blessing to many!
I am lucky enough to be one of the volunteers who buys the gift cards that go to the parents or guardians of the students in need. This way, the parent gets to be the hero and buy what the child needs and the child never needs to know that they got charity. The thank you notes that come back often make me cry- they are so thankful and often say that they don’t know what they would have done otherwise. Thank you to all the donors who help make these things come true.
I first learned about Alice's Kids from an article in the Washington Post, sent by a friend in San Diego to me at my home in Key Largo. The Florida Keys had recently experienced a devastating hurricane and I contacted Ron Fitzsimmons and asked if they would be able to help children in the Florida Keys. He quickly responded "Yes" and the next day I presented the information to the Community Resource Council, a monthly gathering of representatives of social service organizations, County government offices, school system personnel and private agencies that assist people in need. The response was positive, and the word started to spread of the availability of funds to help provide children, anonymously, with the small things that make a big difference in their lives. I am proud to now serve as a member of the National Outreach Committee for Alice’s Kids, continuing to share the information about the incredible work that this group does.
And, as a donor, I know that the funds donated are truly making a difference.
Alice's Kids is a really thoughtful and one-of-a-kind nonprofit. I don't know any other organization that provides giving the way that it does: for smaller items that are needed but simply do not fit into other nonprofits' missions (like for new shoes, paying senior fees so a kid can walk at graduation, a bed frame), totally anonymously, and extremely quickly, usually within 24 hours. Thousands and thousands of children's lives have been touched in important ways by Alice's Kids. The leadership and volunteers are committed and smart, and they create a big impact for this lean and powerful nonprofit.
I donate to this charity whenever possible. The anonymous work they do brings dignity and a sense of belonging to these kids. It warms my heart and I’ll support them in whatever ways I can.
Yes, we need systematic change. But the money that goes into Alice’s Kids directly helps the kids that need it most. It’s the little things that made a big difference sometimes and Alice’s Kids fills that gap in services and resources.
My wife and i donate thousands of dollars to Alice's Kids annually. This is a charity whose mission is to help young people, who live in daunting conditions, to feel better about themselves. Its' admin expenses are run are minimal to make more money available to reach the needs of kids. It is well run, focused like a laser on its' mission and I am impressed by them. When we see a child hurting, we cry a little inside. When crying inside ourselves is not sufficient, we donate to Alice's Kids.
I work in a school district and see how kids from different socio-economic backgrounds struggle. I’m a donor to this great organization and think the work they do makes a meaningful difference to these kids.
Having lived in Tennessee for a short while in a former cheese factory in a town of 300 people and no allotment checks coming in for months, I can attest to how little things make such a difference. By little kindnesses, thoughtful people enabled by brother and I to attend 10 cent ballgames with our friends, to buy a uniform to play on the girls’ basketball team, and more. These stories telling of seemingly very small things can make a huge difference to a young person, both in self-esteem and feeling cared for.
Alice’s Kids began appearing on my twitter timeline thanks to Patton Oswalt. I gave them a follow for their heartwarming stories and commitment to children all over the US. As a teacher in Philadelphia, I knew I could reach out to them and get support for my families if I ever needed to. Earlier this year, one of my student’s families had a terrible house fire, where it left the family homeless with no clothes for their children. Alice’s Kids was quick to provide me with a generous gift card to Target- beyond the original amount I was asking for. This, along with the money my school staff has raised, provided the family with plenty of clothes and some toys for the children. With all the terrible things happening in the world, Alice’s Kids is such a ray of light. They care about all children- regardless of age, gender, skills, behavior, ability. They are truly amazing.
I had been following Alice's Kids everyday on twitter and everyday they offered so much light. One day a story hit too close to home and touched me deeply. They allow me to designate my donation help the student in the story. Through the whole process they protected the student and got my donation directly to her. Their message, communication and mission were clear. These are good people, doing great work!
I live in Canada, but have donated to Alice's Kids. They're a charity that does small things to make BIG differences in people's lives. Can't reccomend them enough
You know that feeling when you see a post of a kid being bullied for old clothes, or a child not being able to attend prom, or a mom doing everything she can to provide a birthday party, and you think to yourself “I wish I could lift that weight off their shoulders.” Well, now you can, through this organization.
I have never seen a charity truly so dedicated to helping kids in a way that lets them feel that they are just like all other kids. Everyone knows the feeling of getting that new pair of shoes or the new outfit for school. This charity allows the parents to give their kids that feeling, remaining the heroes in their story.
What I love about Alice's Kids is the focus on dignity first. The gifts they give are direct, micro donations in the larger scheme (typically under $200) but have MASSIVE impact on individual lives.
While there are many charities who provide food or shelter or other many wonderful things, and they should also be lauded... what Alice's Kids provide is so much deeper. It feeds minds, souls and inspires.
What Alice's Kids does better than anything else, is to give people Hope. And that is priceless.
I first met Ron Fitzsimmons at a community meeting when he introduced Alice's Kids to the group- he had just started the organization and at the time, requests were only for families in a small region in VA. I have watched from the sidelines as Alice's Kids slowly expanded their services, and then eventually grew to be nationwide. I, myself, as a social worker have worked with Alice's Kids over the years on families who have needs. One particular family I worked with, she was a single mother, widowed by a fallen veteran, with two children. Both of their birthdays were in March, and the mom's finances were stretched thin and she told me how worried she was about not being able to do anything for their birthdays. I reached out to Alice's Kids and they sent the family a gift card for a night of fun and entertainment at Dave and Busters. The mom reported back to me that it was a night that they would never forget, and how much FUN they all had celebrating the childrens' birthdays. The experience truly made the childrens' birthday celebration special. Alice's Kids continues to support our families, and we are entirely grateful to them for everything they have done.
I am a donor and I believe Alice’s Kids does more good than just about anything you can support. Real people, immediate help, consistent and compassionate efforts and lasting rewards.
Wonderful organization that I support because I remember what it was like feeling less than. To be able to anonymously provide for childrens' needs and give them dignity can make all the difference.
I love that Alice's Kids helps out in small ways to directly impact kids' lives without making the kids feel like they are a 'charity' case. Everyone associated with this organization is incredibly kind and I am proud to donate to them!
A local (Washington DC) media story alerted me to the amazing work of Alice's Kids. Its mission is specific, focused and makes a real impact on kids' lives. I have been honored to help out in a small way with occasional donations.
I happened to stumble on this amazing organization. The work they do is amazing please check them out. Great people! The smiles I get every time I see a needy kid get something I get a smile.
Worth every dime, there smile per dollar ratio is second to none !
I an an Alice's Kid's gift administrator. I see the requests for small to medium size gifts -- soccer shoes, prom dresses, clothes for growing children, all small things that are given to the parents so the kids do not think of themselves as charity kids. This is one of the most gratifying think I have ever done.
I first heard about Alice's Kids during a snowstorm which cancelled schools for several days. Ron Fitzsimmons from Alice's Kids posted on a Facebook page that Alice's Kids was ready to help! I invited Ron to speak at my church's Sharing Committee meeting and after hearing the story I knew I needed to help.
Alice's Kids provides kids and their families short term assistance to let the kids experience a childhood most take for granted. It could be as little as a new backpack to as much as football equipment so a child can play on a team (where they will learn teamwork, get exercise and have positive roll models). After four years, I've watched this local organization grow into a national organization serving children across the United States and am proud to support the organization through my volunteering and financial support. You should support them financially too!
As a teacher I love how this charity allows children to have dignity. It's not about making a fanfare out of the big donation they made for a photo opportunity. It's about a gift card in the mail so that the parent or teacher or child themselves can purchase what is needed.
Sometimes it's essentials like clothing. Sometimes it's things to bring a little sunshine.
It's always done with the children at the centre.
I started working with Alice's Kids when I was employed at a community health center that referred patients to their services. I saw the great work they did and continued to follow them on social media after I changed careers and I support them financially when I could. When I saw a call that Alice's Kids needed more volunteers I was excited to get more involved with their mission. It is amazing how flexible they were with increased requests due to COVID-19. They are able to provide a service to kids that sparks so much joy, I really enjoy being a part of the process.
I really love what Alice’s Kids does for children. They are so genuine and helpful to those that need it most. The help they offer is so fast too. This is an amazing group of people helping children. I love them!
Alice’s Kids is an amazing Charity organization. The empathy put forth in helping children is incredible. I remember being the less fortunate child. The dirty child, the child without electricity or food in the home. I remember not having money to be in Girl Scouts or to participate in certain activities. This charity not only helps but they do it in a manner that allows children to have dignity and not be shamed. I remember being made fun of for getting singled out at school to get free clothing and food. I know when I donate I am making a difference.
Alices Kids daily posts about how they are helping are such a wonderful and regular source of inspiration! And right now everyone could use a little more good news and positivity each and every day.
Keep up the spectacular work you guys!
The untold story of living in poverty, or even as a child of the working poor, is the little things that separate children . Alice’s Kids is dedicated to making a difference in the little things—money to buy a ticket to a school play, new track shoes to wear in the regional track meet, food for the team dinner that all of the parents take turns providing, etc. As someone who, as a child, benefited from just this type of generosity in my community , I’m proud to be a monthly donor to ensure that I can continue to pay it forward for others.
Alice's Kids is a wonderful organization. They help children by allowing them to have the small thing that make a normal life - prom dress, basketball shoes, field trip fees; but also books, music lessons, eyeglasses. Items that can improve a child's self-esteem and make them feel special. All done anonymously through gift cards that the parent, counselor, or even the child can use to purchase the items.
My father would tell us during the depression his shoes would have a stencil telling everyone these shoes were given by the County as the family needed them. He was, or couse, humiliated having to wear these shoes. He left high school to help his family, served in WW 2, and became a great dad. This is why I donate and support Alice's Kids so children can get what they need and avoid humiliation.
They help out kids with things that seem trivial to most, but mean the world to those who receive the assistance. The stories of help that they share are inspiring, heartwarming and occasionally make you tear up a bit-but in a good way. I have donated previously and will continue to do so in the future because they make a real and meaningful difference.
Alices Kids meets the needs of families by way of “the little things” that may fall through the cracks of the bigger picture. Love their work!
The things that Alice's Kids helps with can really change things for a kid. Clean clothes, new cleats, snacks for the ball team, a laptop, books. It's a way to make a true, immediate impact one kid at a time.
Even with schools closed due to COVID-19, this organization continues to go above, and beyond to meet the needs of students! I appreciate all that they do for my Communities In Schools students! Some of my students have received clothes, shoes, and now they are getting books from Alice's Library.
