Review for 500 Projects of Love , Las Vegas , NV, USA
I am writing to share what a wonderful organization 500 Projects of Love is and the impact they have had for the homeless community in Las Vegas in just the last few months. I have had the pleasure of helping support the efforts to feed, clothe and purchase hygiene supplies for over 500 people on the streets in need. This organization works tirelessly to pick up donations , drop off to those in need, prepare meals for the homeless and go to where homeless communities are to give out food and hope in the most non-judgmental ways in person.
They never refuse to help. If they do not have what is needed they will seek the donation and then deliver the items needed. I had the pleasure of watching Racheal the CEO of this nonprofit hand food out and just smile and ask how a person’s day was. Just that thoughtful smile given got a smile back. At last year’s Gobble Gobble event 500 Projects of Love not yet even a nonprofit collected and brought 500 pounds of clothes, 150 pounds of food to prepare for the thanksgiving meal, and worked the event with many other organizations all day to make the event a wonderful day for the homeless. They did not stop there at Christmas Racheal CEO of 500 Projects of Love collected and gave away donations she had been collecting for months to help in over 10 different community events: blankets, jackets , warm clothes to get through the winter, can goods, complete meals to families in need collected prepared and delivered to those families in need.
I need to tell you a story Racheal does not drive. She Ubers or Lifts paying out of pocket to go to help those who are hungry , thirsty or in need. Her friends have said of her when she was a child she had a heart to help. A friend told me once as a child she would make her mom pull over and buy food for people she saw standing on the street with signs saying work for food. Racheal told her mom people should not have to stand on corners to get food. On more than one occasion she asked her mom to pull in to buy food for the person she saw and she would run to the person to give them food and tell them God loves you. In high school, in college she volunteered to help run food drives, clothing drives, collected toys for give a ways to organizations like Toy’s for Tot’s and the fire department so children who otherwise would not have a holiday had one.
If I pick her up to help take her anywhere she needs to go she never passes a homeless person. She always will say stop I need buy food for that person. One time she saw a homeless man outside a restaurant and invited him in to eat with her and her family and had him order whatever he wanted. Another time she saw a man sitting under a statue of Marilyn Monroe in Palm Springs he looked hungry so I had to park and she went to buy him a pizza. When she came out he was gone so she looked for someone else who needed food. She found two men and gave them the pizza to share along with drinks and bread rolls.
Several years ago while living in an apartment in Las Vegas she took in donations of shoes that filled her entire dining area 50 black trash bags of shoes to give to an organization that passed out shoes to the homeless. She has gained donations for other organizations to help young mother’s in need of baby supplies. She has went to thrift stores to buy items for the homeless out of her own pocket when she did not get enough people to donate the items she needed or purchased new if she had to. This is an organization I support. 500 Projects of Love Racheal Rickman CEO because her heart is true, honest, kind and giving.
